Hello all ! As I work on my Korben Dallas Costume I'm in the process of making my Korben Dallas Blaster,

First I wanted to bought one of these from HCG but when I saw that the latest version do not feature the electronics I decide that i'll do my own

This prop is going to be 3d printed (sanded, bondo'ed, etc...) and some parts like the handle will be sculpted

Here is the beginning !

Well the Blaster will be casted in many parts, First the top, which will contain full electronics (led's, IC, LiPo + Charger) The handle is going to be cast in hard rubber to provide a nice grip ! i'll post pictures as I progress on the sculpts

Looking forward to your build. I have future plans to machine an all aluminum version of the gun, but it's a ways off still.

Maybe we can exchange the 3d models :)

At least i'm going to build a CNC late this year, with which i'll be able to machine aluminium parts !

And well, i have a deadline for the 1st of March to build this Baby !

That would be awesome, I only got about 1/4 of the way done with my 3D model. I wasn't looking forward to the minimum order if I went to a Chinese machinist, either. The parts are (compared to your average prop) extremely simple, but without a CNC they're overly complicated for me. Please do send me a PM when you're ready to move forward in that regard and we can talk shop.

Hey ! an update, I have done the full model now (minus the trigger), and a lot of sanding, pics to come !

the ones that HGH are selling on ebay have the electronics but the battery wires are just clipped. 30 minute fix, but awesome scratch build anyway.

There are some issues with your model, some of which in the handle region which would be very difficult to get right I'm sure. There are a few inaccuracies I've noticed though in the lower barrel area, the silver part. The HCG gun is very handy for getting nearly accurate shapes and measurements of the gun, do you have one?

This was based only on hgc/hero pictures !

So if you have any suggestions, I'll take these into account to make the 3d more accurate !

And yes the Handle is the most difficult part i had to do.
I've done all the mode with solidworks, I also know 3dsmax, blender, but for this one I find solidworks better for most of the shapes.

oh no some one needs to do the chris tucker costume. The blaster looks amazing
Somenone did ...

Yea, for the handle of my gun I'm going to be using a resin cast of a real Vektor.

The specific spot I was referring to is the circular edge on the top back of the part that sticks out on the side of the silver part (good god that's a terrible explanation.) On the actual gun it's just an angled cut. I think there are some radius issues on the black parts as well but I can't point out anythign specific. Also, the firing pin should make contact with the "hammer" unless the whole part is pulled back. You'll notice in photos of the hero prop where those parts aren't touching, the whole rear black section has been dislodged.

Hum yes for the silver part, it's normally just cut off not rounded (will fix this easily)
Risu if you have any measurements, like for the rounded black top, distance between cuts etc i'll take !

For the black part i will make it a bit longer so they will touch each other

I took a ton of measurements off of the HCG gun and used photos of the real props as reference to fill in gaps and make corrections where the HCG gun had soft details or small asymmetries. I've only modeled the front top black part of the gun so far, but I can tell you that the slots in the top are made with a 10 mm chamfer corner end mill. This is what sold me on sending out for the parts, because that bit is $50 by itself. There may be more specialty bits I haven't found out about yet and if there are it starts to get dangerously close to being more expensive to make it myself. I don't know what you're shooting for, if it's just A prop or if you're trying to make the BEST possible replica. If you're going for a perfect replica my advice would be to buy an HCG gun and have it on hand while making your solid model. It's invaluable and you'll need to reference it for every single line. If you're not going for that, then what you have is pretty good.

Well here is the first assembly, not all the parts are finished but the gun looks really nice, altought it seems the gun is a bit bigger than the original (will soon compare with the screen used raw cast i wait for ...)
