Indeed. Sadly though it was very comical closure. "I will buy you a delicatessen!" "We can do a deal!" :rolleyes
His name wasn't mentioned because of the legal issues but they definitely made the connection with Bond at Tracy's grave beforehand as well as continuity from OHMSS.

Anyway, yeah, I did like that hat tip to continuity and the reveal of the real Blofeld.

Largo never died! He had a race conversion to make himself into Tiger and then shaved his head to be Blofeld! :lol
Octopussy
Maybe I'm losing my mind, but I really really liked this one. It may be my favorite so far. Yes it's a bit cheeky in places, but it doesn't really bother me. I like the use of gadgets. The yo-yo buzz saw was cool. Of course the whole time I'm watching it I'm thinking of Temple of Doom and the Last Crusade. This is one I can see myself rewatching.

Certainly not a bad film but victim of the "plot is there to string together action sequences" syndrome that plagued the Moore & Brosnan eras.
Would have loved to see more of the Russian general though. He was a great character.

Octopussy (1983) - Roger Moore
This film is a real mixed bag. While is has some good action scenes and a pretty good plot regarding tension in Cold War Germany I find the acting to be weak and the pacing of the film to be off. This movie has two sides to it. One side is the very real Cold War world of Germany, this part of the film works really well for me and should have been the focus in my opinion. The second side is Bond's exploration of the Circus troop as run by Octopussy which I find weak and uninteresting. The film reaches it's climax with Bond in a clown suit, never good.
The Good: Cold War Germany. General Orlov is a great character and should have been given more screen time.
The Bad: Pretty much all of the circus stuff that is typical with the Roger Moore Bond.

One thing I noticed about Octopussy that I really liked was how the subtle humor was way more effective than the in-your-face humor. One scene that actually had me in stitches is when Gobinda and Kamal get in their car to get away from the explosion, but the car has a bit of trouble starting. i just like those little touches because it shows how a villain's well laid plan can still fall victim to the things you least expect. Just adds that bit of realism while still being fun.
In this we are agreed. I still wince when Moore is the one making wisecracks but Gobinda & Kamal have some great subtle humour to them.

Incredibly attractive but there's always been something about her that bugged me. Her face has kind of that "big forehead" look to it. Puts me off, don't know why.
I loved the making of documentary for Octopussy, especially when the film's title came up. Kristina Wayborn would be asked what the title of the film was, and she'd say "I don't know what the title is.... " but Roger Moore's is the best.
"The lady interviewing me asked what's the name of the next Bond movie and I said Octopussy. And she blushed, saying you must be joking. I said why? What's wrong with Octopussy?"
