My ironman mk3 build thread

So iv decided to get started on my pepakura mk3 suit. Iv printed the chest and shoulder about a week ago and I'm well in to finishing the shoulder. View attachment 125959View attachment 125960
The plan is to cast all of the components of the suit as I'm not happy with the finished feel or weight of pepakura and bondo. This is my second time working with pepakura so I'm quit confident it will be quicker than my first attempt at the ironman helmet. View attachment 125962View attachment 125963View attachment 125964

Bit of a set back today while glueing a section of the shoulder I accidentally flicked superglue in to my eye so two hours and a visit to the emergency room later and I was able to finish.

Keep up the work, work slowly and do one part at a time, else you'll be overflowded with parts!!!

Oh and if you can afford some shortcut like buying premade parts, that'll save you tons of work!!! ;)

Yeah printing two parts at a time then no more until they are done. You are dead right about the premaid parts I shudder at the thought of pepping zabanas hands.

Keep us updated Dan. Loved your first Helmet and i appreciate the tips you gave me a while back. I'll keep checking back to this thread for updates.

Great work mate.

how long did it take you to build the helmet? from print to paint?

6 months approximately I got distracted half way through the pep stage and didn't touch it for nearly a year then started again so all in all not including the year gap 6 months working mainly on the weekends. I could probably cut that time in half when I do another as i won't make the same mistakes and have to work out the problems this time out.

How did you get the screw head/rivet effect on the cheeks and forehead?
Great build by the way.

I used a geometry set as it had pre cut circles of different sizes then places it where I wanted the screw and scraped it in to the bondo with an engineers scribe.

I need some help iv resined the two parts of the shoulder and put rondo in the back but I was wondering if it would be better to attach both parts together now the bondo them as 1 piece then when I cast it its only one piece to worry about or build them separately and have the worry about them fitting after they have been cast any ideas what I should do?
