I picked this up in the Junkyard and it is an amazing cast! Very little clean up, and I finished in an hour or so. Anyway, I wanted to share pics of how it came out.

Thanks guys. I mixed up some medium brown and black for a base coat. Then I brush on a little lighter brown in certain areas (which is really subtle). Then I used a wax, furniture touch-up pen to rub over it to create the highlights.

Wow, it looks great! Your casting looks to be a little better then mine was.

Might I ask what brand wax pen did you buy, where, and what color? My Horga'hn
is not coming out nearly as well as yours did.

Not bad bro. Just looks like a lighter wood. I painted mine a very dark brown and used the pen. I'll look at the pen tonight and give you the info on it!!

Ok, Jason I repainted it a dark walnut, now I only need to know what color
touch up pen you used. Was it a paint pen or a wood touch up pencil?

You might also want to try doing a little dry brushing on it as I believe that's what jhuesel did in addition to the touch up pen. In case you don't know what dry brushing is all you do is take a dry bush, dip in a lighter color paint than your base coat, brush off most of the paint on a piece of paper or something, then lightly go over the statue with your brush so that the paint only comes on the raised surfaces. For a more subtle look you'll want to use a color just a little lighter than your base coat and/or leave very little paint on the brush so that it only goes on the most raised parts. Alternately, if you plan on using the touch up paint then you can be a little more generous with the paint but still not much and keep just a couple of shades lighter than your base coat so the touch up pen creates highlights.

Riceball is correct I did some drybrushing as well. I am not at the shop right now but will look tomorrow. It is a touchup pencil in a yellow coating. It has a string you pull to cut through the paper and unravel it to expose more of the crayon. It is very waxy like kind of like a crayon

Here's mine, badly lit photo but it's night time and phone cam. I only just finished it tonight. I'll post a couple more in if can take some tomorrow.

Click the small pic for a big view. 'scuse the pile of CDs and papers I was doing other stuff at the same time.
