Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)-Gatling Gun pics added

Wow great work! I'm doing the comic style paintjob with the Matte Black and battleship gray. I'd be totally interested if your friend does a run of the guns.

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)-Gatling Gun pics added

So all the pictures came out all at one time....so the way I did the stencil to cut the hole was putting a piece of paper on the gun barrel tip and pressed all around the part that way I can see where to cut, I know there is other methods for it but I was going for the easier way.

I put the gun together with some tape and with a sharpie I marked where the part is going to be and then cut the whole in it, one side at a time; Since I left a lip all around the gun tip I started to cut until it fit leaving space to put glue in them, did the same thing for the eye sight....

off to home depot to get a better glue, I used crazy glue and it does not work, the parts get kind of burn and turn white and brittle....

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)-Arm gun primed

Thanks a ton for forwarding my info to him!

The arm gun looks great! These are gonna look great on the forearms!

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)-Arm gun primed

Oh wait!!!
What I have learned so far:
1- Do not throw away any of the trimmings, the can be used in a bunch of stuff.
2-Loctite is the best to glue plastic.
3-Nail polish remover can be used to un-glue your fingers.
4-Rust-Oleum rocks!!!
5-Be patient.
6-Clean the edges really good, if you can get it done on a machine even better!
7-Be patient!
8-Practice gluing using scrap pieces, you can see how much time you have until it gets stuck( 5 seconds for me).
9-practice putting the edges together before you put the glue, that way you know how to press so the lips come in contact correctly.
10-Be patient!

Did I mention to be patient?!

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)-Arm gun primed

Wow! How amazing what some glue and a coat of primer will do for a part in the making! I am very excited as well by the way it turned out! It looks fantastic! :love
The how too and problem solving for the build are greatly appreciated as well! PN74 you exemplify what I think RPF stands for, Thanks for sharing and helping by example.
Patience is definately the key to this and asking those who have been there before!
Wondersquid, Thanks for putting another piece of great build material in our hot little hands!
PN74, Thank you for putting me in touch with Wondersquid as well!

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)-Arm gun primed

So getting prepared for my job interview tomorrow, Can't wait to go back to work it's going to be a month and I can't take it...anyways, back to my WM

So after all the primer dried I'm not happy with the seams, so I was thinking to buy some plastic sheets and cut them the same width as the gun and cover the seams...Then I was thinking about using spot putty and sanding it...So for you guys to avoid this dilemma clean the edges really good....

So I need to make the gatlin gun and the arm yet, but before I have to come up with a solution to make the gatlin gun rotate but at the same time not too lose and only go as far pointing and then resting..

I was looking at some empty medicine bottles; and looking or a way to do that; they have the clicking action, here is what I mean...just an idea, there's something better out there...

PN74, congrats on th' new job an maybe some plastic modelers putty will clean up those ugly seams tamiya makes a good one light weight too very sandable after hardening. love your ferets they make geat pets have they been descented? Keep up th' good work.:cool:cool

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)-Arm gun primed

Thanks, everything went great today, I'm going on Friday morning to finalized everything, I hope I can get to start on Monday...

Thanks for the recommendation; I will look into get me some of that putty; Oh my ferrets are great, They are the coolest thing, they like to play a lot, there are some misconceptions about ferrets thou...They only stink if you don't clean them, I change the litter everyday...If you cut their nail and keep them nice they will not cause any damage, they are supper affective, the brown on (Punky) is the female and she loves to jump in the couch and lay on my chest when I'm taking a nap....they are de-scented and I give them some drops that kills the ammonia...

My greatest creation by far....

Time for me to use the chemicals! I'm hardening the torso which I'm going to do it in 4 quadrants so it does not get warp; so first is the front left side and the back right side so it counterbalance I will post a link later cause I don't remember where I found the tutorial....

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)-shout out to Cereal Kill3r for awesome Tut!!

So i was browsing around here And I just found one of the best tutorials around, alongside with Stealth's, the mastermind behind the tuts is Cereal Kill3r, Link below, I subscribed it to his tutorials and boy if he goes into details, he explain everything step by step, tricks, how to mix Rondo (Resin+Bondo); I think Rondo is what I'm going to use to finish my armor, he does not use fiber glass on the torso he is making and the piece is super strong, also gave me the best idea in how to separate my torso with magnets...just awesome, take few minutes and check his work, and do not skip anything cause you are going to miss a lot of good stuff...

So Big Shout out to Cereal Kill3r for the videos....Here is the link...

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)-shout out to Cereal Kill3r for awesome Tut!!

Update:
So after I put together one of my arm guns, I was tinkering and looking for a good way to clean up the edges of the vacuum formed pieces (this is if you don have the tools to do so). So here is what I did, since surface is flat all around the gun, I took a ruler and a fine point sharpie and trace a line really close to the edge, that way I won't cut too much...

So with my hobby knife and going super slow, I cut the edge little by little and staying right by the line I made, so the cleaned edge looks like this:

Then glued both pieces together and here is how the seams look know, I whish I can get me another gun to replace the first one...

Tomorrow the torso....
