My Green Lantern movie Ring

lol I have a for sale thread over on the GLCMB. I just finished one resin run and I could possibly do another.
Please do a run of these. It would deffinetly bring in money for those Triplets you got coming.LOL

Seriously sell me one before I go all RED LANTERN RAGE!!!!.LOL

It sure must be nice to have access to said pictures. Apparently there's several RPFers that are just that lucky... or have the right connections. And here I am, I was officially dubbed a "Green Lantern Super Fan" several years ago (over on the DC Comics Official GL Message Board, back in the days when it was still worth going to) and nobody's seen fit to send those images my way. So, yeah, must be nice. :unsure

You've made a comment about not seeing non-published photos of the ring more than once and I just wanted to explain that whomever may have unreleased photos of the prop may legally not be allowed to share them with anyone. Even if such photos were shared privately from an industry connection it would be in poor taste to spread them around especially when peoples jobs are on the line.
The replicas we see coming along now look pretty good and considering we haven't even seen any licensed movie replicas yet, I think we are way ahead of the game with how good these look.

Some of you are obviously getting your hands on them somehow. Zenix apparently found a way to get his hands on them, based on comments he's made recently.

If they're floating around on the internet somewhere, if somebody's already let that cat out of the bag, then as far as I'm concerned, they're fair game and should be shared with the RPF. They have closeup beauty shots of both the CGI ring and the physical ring prop in the trailer, so I don't understand why there's still all this secrecy. The cat's out of the bag as to what the ring looks like, so maintaining this level of secrecy is just silly, In My (Not So) Humble Opinion. All we're looking for is more angles of the ring. It shouldn't be a big deal now that the trailer's out. :rolleyes

Here is the Steel /Resin version that I just finished up!

Damn, that looks sharp! You NAILED the green color for the resin "gem" on this one! And the texture of the printed stainless steel looks great for this ring, too!

I still would prefer a tapered band for comfort. I think it's a bit too wide to be comfortable to wear. But looking good so far. :)

So, how did the size come out on the band? Others that have ordered steel rings from Shapeways (myself included) have experienced "shrinkage" during the printing process. I ordered a size 10 and it came out as a 9½. :(

I agree with Jack. if the pics are being shared within a circle of replicators , then the cat is out of the bag. especially if they are able to replicate the ring. as far as the shapeways ring Jack i too ordered a bit big due to the shrinkage I have received in the past.(rings that is) lol I sent in an 11 and it came back just under a 10 1/2

People are still very capable of loosing their jobs over it though. Even if pics are floating around nobody wants to be the unlucky one that gets the original leaker in trouble for it.

I understand that, I just don't agree with the logic... or lack thereof. The cat's out of the bag. The trailer shows the ring in high detail, both the CGI version and the real, physical prop. And the images of the promo ring given to celebrities help fill in some of our missing info, but we also know what's inaccurate on it, thanks to the guys that made the real prop. But we also know from them that the resin/plastic "gem" that makes up the face was cast DIRECTLY from the real prop. So we know that part's accurate except for the inaccurate color of the "metal" ring, which is supposed to be the same silver-tone color as the rest of the band, rather than the bronze/copper color seen on the promotional ring.

For that reason, I fail to see how showing a couple more pictures from different angles is going to cause any "harm" that the images in the trailer didn't cause. But that's big corporations for you: If it makes sense, it's not allowed! :rolleyes

It's not so much showing the ring - as you pointed out, we can see it quite well in the trailer and the promotional rings - it's the fact that there are images of the actual ring that are NOT available to find online but have been shared privately and are NOT to be shared publicly - when we say that peoples jobs are on the line, that's no joke.
Would you really want some guy to lose his job just so you can see a few more images of the ring? C'mon dude - it's not worth it.
It's kind of like if someone tells you a secret and asks you not to share it with anyone. It's all about respect and has nothing to do with deliberately hurting fanboys who want to see some juicy photos.

So why show them privately ??? If all that the people are being shown for is to replicate it??? Would that not throw up red flags that hey looky there! Someone made an exact replica of the ring! Someone must have shown the pics for that to happen!! Not to mention if anyone from WB is out there reading this and says..Hmmmmm Such and such is sharing these pics privately for someone to rip us off WTF?? Is that when you guys who are sharing the pics pick a fall guy??

I completly understand your feelings about those "secret" pictures...
you should get into Vader or Stormtrooper stuff... :lol

No really, i hope these pictures will be posted publicly soon as i´m getting more and more excited about the custom rings to be as accurate as possible!

So what do you think of the quality of the rings from Shapeways? Given that you do rings yourself, I think you are a good judge.

Regarding the unpublished pics, it is always a tough call when there are non-disclosures, peoples jobs, and other factors involved.

Looking at the stainless ringband in the pic. It is a printed stainless band from shapeways.

It always comes out a little gritty. But can be filed smooth with a little effort.

I'll tell you this...

The simple fact that people are even TALKING about the fact that unreleased "secret" photos are OUT there, just reaffirms my stance on not sharing any photos ever. With anyone.

If it were me, I'd be pissed the people I gave the photos to even mentioned that they had them.

I like my job. I'd also like to keep it. :lol

I actually thought the same thing. The presence of people asking for more leaked photos would make me angry with the people I leaked the photos to. And scared that they might continue sharing causing me to loose my job.

It's not worth loosing a job over.

Yeah it is a shapeways band . They seem to come back a bit smaller than what it shouldve been made at . But all and all a great piece.

Happy New Year to all!!!!
