Hey members of thehunterslair!

me (NeXus 6 from germany) started by reading a lot of the articles here in the forum and deceided then to build my own pedator1 costume...

Here are the results... The pics with the full suit, armor, bones, feet etc. on will follow !

I documented most of the steps (lost some of the early pics) and now I like to share this with this great great community! ...and sorry for my por english :-/

>

1. Bought some cheap neoprene surfer shoes & a can of polyurethane foam (uised for sealing windows...)
2. Stuffed the shes with some old socks ans sprayed the foam all around the shoe
3. let it dry (some water sprayed on the foam helped to speed up the process)
4. cut out the basic form auf the P1-Feet, then get step by step closer to the final look
5. make some nails from FIMO, insert a thin piece of plastic (old yoghurt pot) to get a slit in the FIMO
6. FIMO in the ofen, get it out glue the plastic peace in there
7. sand the foam
8. put latex on (2 - 3 layers of thik latex paste)
9. let it dry then cut slits in the latex and foam, plug the FIMO-nails with plstic strip in there (hot clue)
10. paint it with acylic paints, I used airbrush colors
11. Seal it with LIQUITEX MATTE VARNISH (I prefered matte cos I didnt like the shiny style...)

1. Put some heavy high socks (tubes) on
2. make a tape dummy, covering the whole leg
3. pull leg out and stuff it with paper or old clothes or something
3. use newspaper and a white children glue and cover the leg with 3-5 layers, let dry
4. put resin on the dried cast, inside and outside (I dindnt use resin mat, just the fluid.)
5. put some filler / surfacer / putty on the cast to create a surface
6. Cut it up/down in a nice shape and around to cut the lower part from the rest
7. hot clue a fomie part / spacer in the lower part
8. clue foamies on the cast more r less similar to the original
9. put PLASTIDIP (I used a can) on the cast with foamies
10. paint it with hammerd silvermetal spray can and after that with transparent airbrush color black

Basically I followed the wonderfull Mr.-I tutorial(!)
I just discovered that the suit shrings arount 10 %, so buy a suit with a little space!

1. Make a tape dummy
2. cover the whole suit with thick latex paste not the thin milk 2 times
3. cut the chest with a sharp knife and fill the muscles a little bit with foam rubber / sponge rubber and stitch it togehter
4. Create more body muscles (8-pack) with cutton pads and styrofoam balls for pimples / spots / hickeys
5. put latex on by tapping the latex with a piece of soft foam rubber on the suit min. 2 times
6. use colored latex to paint the big areas, like the dark back, its way better then airbrushing everthing later on
7. paint the whole suit with airbrush (semi-transparentI) color mixed with PROS-AID adhesive
8. For the big areas like the back, I used a pattern t get these black / brown stains
9. after finishing with the paint seal the suit with LIQUITEX MATTE VARNISH or PERMA-WET GLOSS Coating
10. Throw a (fishing) net with a 35-45 mm mesh size over the suit closed starting with the legs
11. Leave a V-cut out pen in the back to get in to the suit
12. dummy stuff out and wear it

I got a cheap sideshow resin cannon from a e-Auction and used it here.

1. I used a thermal insulation for heatings and bend it with a hair dryer (hot)
2. cut out some fomie parts fr the sharp edges, hot clue them on
3. closed the side with foamie, but make sure to have some supports clued in
4. put some technically looking stuff on
5. cut out the backside from fomies and hot clued a stripe of 2mm hard plastic on the inside
6. create a key keyhole kind of mounting socket (to be able to take of the big medi kit)
7. hot clue the other part of the key keyhole on the medikit
8. create the shulder cannon holder / bridge. I made this from two parts of foamie and a hard plasic in the same shape
9. cover everthing in children white glue
10. paint it with hammered silver metal and create the used and dirty look with black semi-trans. airbrush paint

Awesome job Nexus 6, really helpful! Great pics and walkthrough! Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!

Cheers!
Carlos

Great work my friend, awesome how-to guide. Will defiantly be using this in the future. Thank you for sharing this.

This is a great tutorial. When do we get to see you wearing the suit? I really like the idea of the key tabs to secure the backpack to the armor. Definately going to use some of your techniques on my suit.

WOW... o_O

That's pretty freaking good!

Nice job man. Very cool approach and great results.
I really like the way you carved the feet. Awesome stuff!

Can't wait to see you fully suited up.

Absolutely un-believable that you documented the entire process the way you did.

It is beyond helpful for everyone to see the process described step by step and also shown with pictures. Your ingenuity is amazing dude. Really impressed with this, I love builds like this where you take sometimes random items and re-purpose them. And look at the result!

Absolutely stellar. I am going to PIN this thread for all the NEWBIES who ask "How do I make a Predator costume". Here it is! Served up. Great job buddy, thanks!

MEANGENE83, I think that was an excellent idea to pin this thread. This thread alone will answer a lot of newbie questions all at once. NeXus6 has not posted since this though. I hope he comes back soon and updates us with more pics of his suit.

Man this is simply a fantastic job. KUDOs to you. How long did it take to complete? Are you going to make more to sell? The way you showed the steps are encouraging. I need to view it again. I would like to create one for myself. Thanks.

INDEED!

I had nearly the same words in mind. Fantastic work buddy!
Thanks a lot!

HI bro & thx for your comment!

I started as a fully costume noob in mid may and wanted to be ready to Helloween 2011th. I worked mainly at the weekends, so it took be around 24-28 weekends to build this. Several hours (4-6 h) on both days.

But the truth is, that you spend a lot of time thinking and/or collecting knobs, buttons, stuffs etc., ordering latex, plati dip and whatnot, waiting to dry out, reading this board and of course making errors :).

I think that I could now build a full suit in 8 weeks (working everyday for 4-6 hours) on it.

I will sell this suit with head, armor, bones, pants, gaunlets etc. and will start with a new costume project... probably not a Predator costume.
But I will share this next build in the non-pred area...

This is a great tutorial. When do we get to see you wearing the suit? I really like the idea of the key tabs to secure the backpack to the armor. Definately going to use some of your techniques on my suit.
Hiha Director !
I posted the finished suit here.
Please have a look.

thats really impressive i wish i had the time to actually do a build from scratch instead of buying everything. very cool

Love it, the fact that you used foam to make everything also eliminates a lot of heavy weight being carried around, I will definetly be using a lot of this to make mine, thank you, absolutely fantastic!!
