My first Lightsaber, a ANH Obi Wan

Looks good. One thing I do on my OWK saber builds. I use a carriage bolt to hold the pommel onto the booster, kinda like you have. However, I machine off the round end of the carriage bolt, which leaves a nice square end that fits perfectly snug into the star shaped opening in the AS handwheel.

That´s a very nice idea. :thumbsup

Thanks.

Since lightsaber's blade is hot, I think you should char the inside of the emitter abit(hopefully alot =) )

Other than that, stellar. As usual, your stuff is awesome.

Aye, it will get some additional weathering - darken the emitter steel parts (maybe parkerizing first), blacken the emitters alu-cone, blacken the brass parts - followed by a treatment with fine steelwool to achieve the wear/usemarks of over 20 years in use. That´s why i would prefer to find a Graflex clamp in a not so good condition for this saber.

Additional some dust and dirt in the deepest edges. Not too much, but some...

What you see now is only the pure mechanical treatment on some parts, to simulate what happens if something is knocked around in battle, the dings and dents that happen, but need no repair. The same will be done to the emitter and the windvane, too.

And many thanks for your kind praise. :$

My favourite lightsaber ever. Very nice build as usual !

:)

Indeed, it is a very iconic piece - i can´t wait for the day the 3 are all done.

Wow! Well worth the effort and time.... looks real nice, sir.

Thank you. :)

There is one part of the efforts left ... cleaning the machine room :cry

Cutting Delrin is not the problem, but cleaning the mess it makes - a lot of chips and parts that are thin and light, that flew all through the room, and stick to every surface like a electrostatic charged foil. :angry

You have in your hair soon, on your clothes and under your shoes - and that way it spreads with every move all above the house.

Just one short question - anyone out there who can provide me the correct dimensions for the transistors/discs and the D-ring?

Thanks in advance. :)

Again I would point you towards Russrep. I've used his transistors on 2 of my builds so far. They are top notch. I do know that they use an M3 thread. As for the D ring, try James Kenobi. Good luck

I see no sense in paying him for work i can do on the same level - and i like to do this kind of work by myself, that´s why i bought the machines for my shop.

Additional his are made of steel ... and iirr these type of transistors was made with a cap of stamped alu.

I have the material, the machines, and i know to use them - all i´m missing are the dimensions. ;)

I hope for him to chime in.

Ok, Ok. Go easy- I was just trying to help. It seems like I offended you - sorry!!! Good luck with the rest of your build. You "have a nice day" as well.

Not offended, don´t worry.

I noticed you were a fan of his work, so i was trying to find a nice way to let you know that i was not completly satisfied with my bought parts from him, without saying it loud and offending someone - they are still nice looking pieces. I just don´t like cnc-machined parts with a fit so loose they fall apart when looking at them, and as a solution "use some superglue". But sometimes we have to grab/buy what is available .....

When making my own parts, the only one i can blame for everything is myself - i just prefer it that way whenever possible.

Well, i made them.

Just not sure if i will use on both places the variant with shims, or one with and one without.
