My First Cosplay Costume (PIC HEAVY)

Brilliant original design and weathering. Reminds me a bit of the character Zer0 from Borderlands 2.

Looking for LMS reference pictures to start thinking of my own costume, I stumbled on this post and site and just had to sign-up...and I'm blown away! For a first cosplay costume, it looks absolutely stunning!

Your armor work using the foam looks very clean and I love the weathering/damage effect, it looks 'genuine'.

I'm also glad you listed where you got the helmet from...I might have to take a look into trying for my own ;)

Hell of a lot better job than my first sack of crap :) Superb, especially the weathering! I have a wood burning tool somewhere(for those who wonder, a nice modular soldering iron like you may already own=nearly the exact same thing, so try weathering with that sometime) and now I really wanna dig the thing out.

Great work!!

Kidd Six - Thanks a lot! I had a lot of fun building this costume! I currently have it set up in my office and it's definitely an awesome conversation piece!
The armor was fun and using the foam matts is definitely the way to go! I would suggest using an exact knife and switching out your blade often to keep your cuts nice and clean. The sharper the blade the easier/smoother/cleaner the cut!

I did all my armor weathering/damage with the wood burning tool inside.....I would suggest doing it in a well ventilated area! Haha.

The helmet I received did need extensive work, but overall it was a good starting point!

hammer326 - I'm sure your first project is better than you think! We are all our worst critic! Trust me, I see a ton of stuff in this build I would do differently! Every project is a learning experience!

Thanks for the kind words!

jessec, thanks! The battle damage was a lot of fun to do! I used a wood burning tool to melt the foam...worked great!

maverick07 - Thanks! That's awesome! I'd love to see the final armor when you guys are done! Good luck and happy building!

Badass and inspiring work. Really good for a first-time build too! : )

Gombabomb - Thanks for the kind words. I had a great resource here at the RPF. So many amazing builders with great advice and tips. I spent a lot of time researching and lurking on here before finally making the jump to do my own build. Looking forward to my next build!
