hey rpf, i receved this helmet about a week ago, i dont really know who makes it but its awesome. or at least it is to me XD. after preping the helmet for painting i bought some liquid masking tape and started painting! the colors arent perfect matches as i just used whatever spray cans i could find at home depot and a couple of tamia sprays but i think theyr pretty close. anyways the whole painting process took about 3 days and im still kinda tweeking the weathering and shading. i ordered a visor last nite so untill i get that it has a couple of peices of wood glued in to keep it from warping/breaking. i know its not screen accurate but please tell me what you think or any tips on making it better.

heres some pics:

Hey, looks awesome, where did you get it? I have a plan for a secret project coming up and this would greatly help!

Cheers!

i got it off of ebay. i cant post the link here but if you would like it i could pm it to you.

haha whats the project?! you cant just mention a secret project and then not tell what it is! XD

The project, which will take numerous attempts to pull off (i.e. the helmet prototypes alone, nvm all the other toys) is a Steampunk Mandalorian. Since SteamCon is here in Seattle (well Bellevue this year) and October is well enough away I figured it for a go. And since I work in a hardware store, I have access to things like "store tools", and "at-cost-merchandise", so things are easier to play with. I got the files for the 8.5 by 11 inch paper template by "WizardofFlight" on "thedentedhelmet.com" and plan to make numerous template helmets from varied sources, but knowing about a kit wouldn't hurt either :)

Overall, I think it looks great, especially for your first attempt at this!! IMO it's a little too heavy on the silver/weathered damage in some areas, especially on the forehead. The visor area and back doesn't look too bad but to me it looks like he took a few too many blasts here and there. Just my 2 cents though for what it's worth. Otherwise, I really like it :)
