**IT'S DONE - SEE POST #20 FOR DETAILS**

I have all but finished it. All I have left to do is replace the white foam board templates with black acrylic. Still working on the fit. I have the two end pieces, but they are supposed to meet in the middle beneath the handle curve.

Here is my photobucket with more pix of the case:

While examining all the extant images I could find this tool case went through much iteration through its uses in the DS9 series and even into VOY. My case is very close to the later season O’Brien tool box with a few practical alterations

The tricorder is a rodd.com body with D. Stines electronics. The hand scanner (with electronics) and the screwdriver shaped tools are trekprops.de kit build ups. The gun shaped tool was scratch built by me and has a light up red LED in. The pen shaped tool is… a pen. I wanted a useful ‘tool’ in my case that can be used at cons, etc. Never know when you can use a good pen. And this pin has three flashing red LED settings that make it a great improvised Trek tool. There are also three iso chips in the case. I imagine having some back up routines and maintenance programs on a handy chip in the case would be a good idea

And finally, the flashlight is a scratch built static stand-in until I can find the real thing. It’s a lighting unit for some kind of old VHS or other tape camera. I have not discovered which ones yet.

Hey!

Give that back to O'Brian!

Looks like you walked off the set with it!

Re: My DS9 O'Brien tool case is all but done!

It would be awesome to have The Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver in there! :lol

Re: My DS9 O'Brien tool case is all but done!

Very nice, dude! :)

When you find out what the found items were for the flashlights, please share...? :angel

Re: My DS9 O'Brien tool case is all but done!

Great job, as stated above...looks like it was taken from the set:thumbsup

Andy,

Outstanding!

So where did you find all of the items or how did you go about making them.

Thanks!

Re: My DS9 O'Brien tool case is all but done!

Thanks all.

Well Walter, the trekprops.de kits were the clincher. I had the tricorder, and once I got the awesome ODN scanner and screw driver thing from him, there were very few tools left to get. The case is a found camera case I got on ebay. After a little TLC and some graphics, I could fill it. I got some of the foam from sector911 and the rest from ebay auctions.

The gun shaped thing is not to spec. I did a lot of comparison pho work, and I still think mine is too short. And a bit inaccurate in the body. The originals were aluminum from HMS I do believe. Mine is made from PVD with a solid Styrene handle and an acrylic rod for the 'barrel.' The electronics were thrown together by me. I am thinking of swapping the LED out for a brighter set up.

Is that one of 'trekprops' ODN scanners?

It sure is! And what a beauty of a reproduction prop, might I add. I'd recccomend it to anyone.

Absolutely awesome, love that kit alot! :love

I've never really entered into collecting Star Trek props, mainly because there are so damn many and I could never stick to just one incarnation :confused

I'll take pix in daylight soon. It's supposed to be rainy for a day or so - It might be a little while.

I also think I am going to sell it... So those of you with watering mouths keep an eye out.
