Hey all I have been working on this off and on for a week or so and I figured that I have it semi presentable so I thought I would throw it up on here so I can get some opinions/suggestions on what needs to be tweaked and what looks ok and to have some fresh eyes on it. Quick note one side has not been fully refined it has only been worked on to give me a general idea of the size.
Thanks for looking

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

Not much love for the ood I see but I keep pressing on here is a comparing shot of my sculpt and an on screen ood I see that mine needs a bit of slimming down and the ear on the left side is a bit off but its getting there. Any comments or suggestions are welcomed and wanted thanks for looking.

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

That looks really good, what are your plans with this project? Are you going to mold it and make masks from it?

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

Yup thats the plan anyway once I have the head mold done I plan to cast the tentacles by themselves and attach them later as well as the translator ball.

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

Ever since a discussion I had with another member via PM I've been planning to top my sanctuary base 6 space suit mannequin with an Ood head. Looking good so far, can't wait to see it finished.

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

looking good so far - do you have good reference to work from? Ood heads are MASSIVE, the eyes should be considerably higher than the wearer's eyes once it's done. I'm the member Risu is talking about there, I started a sculpt a while back ago and a friend of mine took over, he's done a brilliant job already.
Here's a peek at this sculpt:

I don't want to post too much about it though, as there are no plans to sell them on a large scale, it's more of a private project really.

However, if you need more reference ratchetrex, PM me and I'll send you what I've got. I've collected some really good stuff, might be helpful :)

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

Here is a crappy side by side pic to show the scale of my sculpt to my test pull of my davros mask from the other thread

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

New update thanks to R2dan I have completely reworked the entire ood its still a bit rough and I have not put all of the details onto it yet but it looks miles better than what I originally posted if I do say so myself any suggestions or comments are gladly welcomed as always.

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

I'm glad I could help :) Looks better already. I think the side below the eye needs a little attention. It looks kinda like tentacles there on your sculpt, but the real ood look more like a pug dog there ;)

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

thats looking good, i've made a mini me ood for for son, and i'm now working on an adult sized mask, it is a great looking character

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

I finally think that I have made some head way on the ood here is a rough photo of it, I will try to get some better photos up around 7 or 8 this evening hopefully.

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

Somewhat better photos still working out the final detailing and once finished I will spray paint it with primer so that it will look a lot more uniform then what it does now.

This is coming out really good. I look forward to seeing the finished project. Waht then? A Jadoon, perhaps?

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

Well I finally think I am ready to mold this puppy and start doing some masks!
Once it is molded I plan to sculpt a few different styles of tendrils or tentacles.
Any input is welcome as always especially since I think that it is ready but I want to make sure that it is good enough or resembles the ood enough to do them justice. Thanks for all the kind words so far and thank you all for the input!

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

Since my photography isn't that great I thought it would make it a bit easier for everyone if I did a short video. YouTube - Ood Sculpt
Let me know what you think also any suggestions for change are welcome I plan to mold really soon.

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt

At long last I finally get the time to update this a bit. Here is a rough base coat painted pull of my ood mask. I am still sorting out the tentacles but I hope to have some results of my test one in a day or so. Also I still have some seem trimming to do but I just haven't bothered with it yet. If anyone has any comments or suggestions on how to do the tentacles I would be more than happy to hear them. Also let me know what you think.

Re: My Doctor Who Ood sculpt/Mask update

Hey all here is my prototype mask all and all I think it turned out well I still need to repaint the tentacles but pinkish was the only ink I had on hand at the time.
Also I have started to source the jumpsuits for these guys does anyone have any leads that could help? On to the pic

Whoa its been a while since I have updated this but here is a photo of the masks trail run at Connooga 2011 here in TN over all the fans loved it which I am quite pleased with. I still need to paint the veins and switch the eyes out to something with LEDs so I can do the red eye effect. Also I need to light the translator ball. I may put up an interest list in the JY in a few days for blank pulls and see how it goes. Thanks for looking!
