My Boba Fett helmet and jetpack- from cardboard!

I am stunned and amazed at what a great job you did. Kudos - I always wanted to try a boba helm and think you've given me the inspiration to try.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I had so much fun making this costume that I've already started sketching out designs for another project. It'll be cardboard as well.

Me either. :lol

I'd also like to attempt a sandtrooper one day (just to see if I could do it) as well as a Stargate SG-1 Horus costume.

I just found out I won one of the new MAKE programmable controller kits for my Fett costume tutorial- sweet.

Here's the deal: http://www.instructables.com/id/E2CH7OUWRJEUKIKKXA/

I've been wanting to make a Stargate Horus costume for some time now- except I want it to have a full animatronic head. I already have the servos and I've even got all the movements/mechanics figured out. Of course the head will be made mostly from cardboard. Heck, I'll even do a tutorial.

The other things that could be done with this controller would be an R2 (who wouldn't want one) or even something like a full animatronic Predator.....

Here's the skinny on the controller:

It has eight analog inputs, eight digital outputs and four servo outputs. Pretty cool stuff.

Great. Congrats on well deserved winning that sweet piece of hardware.

Can't wait to see it in action, although I don't know what a Horus is...

Here's what I'm talking about- this is the SG-1 version.

I plan on making the entire costume: staff weapon (opening and closing, maybe have it light up when it opens), ZAT weapon (opening and closing) and the full Horus costume consisting of helmet and armor. The hawk head on the helmet will move up/down, right/left and rotate. The eyes on the hawk head will light up and the fans on the side of the helmet will move up and down.

Ambitious I know....... :)

This is a really cool build, and I wanted to tackle this but chickened out, and did a TK lid instead. Your Paintwork is Mutts Nuts!!! If I need anything painting, I will be calling on you!

Holy thread resurrection! The funny part is that I'm finally getting back to the Horus helmet project. I've learned a lot over the last few years and I've been able to greatly simplify the electronics to make it more user friendly and I've been able to make the controller and mechanism much smaller.

And I still very much want to do a super low budget Rocketeer Halloween costume. :)
