My ANH Princess Leia lifesize bust

Its fantastic. I cant really find anything I dont like about it...maybe the sculpt shows 2% heavier than carrie fisher is..so does it look like the sculpt is just a bit puffier than it should be?

I just added new pics on page 1 in my 1st posting and "replaced" the old pics
with the new ones - ;)

I also wrote this below in my first post again:

I believe it's especially hard with Leia, since everybody is seeing something
different in her - :)

I did not want to sculpt a "tiny, scared and cute little princess", I wanted the
"Heroic leader of the Rebellion"-look. She shows some fear in her eyes, but she's
trying to overcome this massive fear and so she's aggressively sticking the jaw
forward, and no matter how afraid she is, she's still got the guts to tell Tarkin
that she "recognized his foul stench" ... :lol

Here is a compilation of the look I was going for although I used no special pic
for her expression it is more about this attitude I tried to capture ... :rolleyes

JRX, I can't quite put my finger on what you've changed but I think she's fantastic. Fabulous job.

Much better.....one thing I observe when looking at those old pics is that she was a little chubby in the face for ANH, not fat but youthful that somehow is missing in your sculpt. Also, her chin should be a little less sharp....softer and more feminine should do it. Overall, a very nice sculpt and as others have said, better than anything I could have ever done. Congrats.

I agree that Leia is hard to capture. You did an AMAZING job and I wish I had the ability to add this bust to my collection.

I think there is a fine line between what she actually looks like, and the way people 'think' she looks or 'remember' her looking.

I think you almost have to 'idealize' her with a sculpt based on accurate features.

For fun you should try sculpting her face from ROTJ, without the age wrinkles and the, uh, 'tired' look she had, but add the ANH hair style. I think most people would probably think she looks spot-on in that configuration.

WOWZ. THERE'S our Princess.

^Agreed.^

I wouldn't have said anything earlier (me = no talent = no critique, imo), but the changes you made (whatever they were), made ALL the difference. Outstanding as usual.

Those photoshops from LOTP are scarin' me man. :) Seriously, I think in interpreting Leia, you got less "100% Carrie Fisher on screen" and more of what I imagine Leia to look like in my head. If it is possible, I think your bust looks more like Leia than Carrie. Hope that makes sense.

A seriously nice bit of work, once again.

I'm sorry to critique as it's a million times better than I could have produced and the best Leia I have seen to date, but as a small observation I think the chin and mouth area is a slight;y too pronounced and that is throwing people off with the likeness a little.

But despite that - brilliant as usual, your work never fails to make me shout 'YAY.'. :thumbsup

Great bust. The revised paint work captures Carrie's look much better now. The Emperor still takes centre stage for me followed by Obi-Wan but nevertheless an excellent Leia :thumbsup

Absolutely fantastic work JRX....

As I have zero talent when it comes to sculpting human likenesses I feel unqualified to critique it, BUT.... I'm watching ANH right now on TV and I think your Leia is just a lil' bit too thin, and the cheekbones are too pronounced.
In short, your bust is missing the 'puppy fat' that George Lucas was so keen for the real Carrie Fisher to lose back in 1976. :lol

But it's only a small critiscism as the rest of it is amazing... it's made me fall in love with Leia all over again. :love

Cheers,
John

Wow....

Just, WOW...

The redo hit the spot. That's definitely Leia, no more critiquing necessary IMO...

:thumbsup :thumbsup

I have not seen the version prior to the changes, but the actual representation is absolutely superb. Incredible sculpt with an awesome paintjob. I like her expression a lot.

Female faces are far more difficult to sculpt than males so Jesper needs a pat on the back for doing this so well. You won't find many sculptors brave enough to tackle this kind of head. :thumbsup

Thanks a lot Cyb and all of you - :) ...

It wasn't easy, and for my "first" female I'm pretty happy with her ... I learned a lot from
sculpting her that hopefully will positively influence my next female sculpt ... whenever
and whatever that will be ... :lol :lol :lol

Thanks again - :)
