My 3' Imperial Star Destroyer

Awesome job. Details are sweet.

Neil,

That's looking REALLY sweet. It was definitely a good decision to make the detailing more subtle. It's made a big difference to what was already an impressive model.

Great work.

Chris

Thanks guys :thumbsup
I'm feeling much better about it now I've redone the underside.

I'm getting close to putting this project to bed now, but I'm not touching it until after Easter.

Cheers

Okay, I managed to get a few more man-hours into the model :)

The guns are built. I made one simple gun base and then cast 7 copies.

Here they are mounted on the right side, which is now almost done. I've done some work on the antenna on top of the bridge too.

Here's a pic head on:

I still need to work on the sides and the nose, detail the rear and underneath of the bridge and built the 'globe' things. Then I'll bring out the scribe lines, add some grey panelling and do the final white wash to dull things down a bit.

Cheers

Fantastic work so far Neil... I agree with those who feel the toning down of the belly detail was a huge step up. Looking really, really good.

Incredible.

Now are you sure you don't have a crew of 6 people helping you with this?

Not only is your work outstanding - you are quick.

I have been working on an R2D2 for almost 5 years and I am still not done.

I'm Jealous.

:) Thanks guys.

Not much of an update, but I've done a bit more work on the bridge:

A huge thanks to Charles and WizardofFlight for helping me locate the "globes" :thumbsup

Neil, your ship is turning out awesome. I'm super impressed with your talent. Keep the progress pics coming as they're inspiring.

Thanks for sharing them with us.

Rolando, the feeling is very mutual mate :)

Robert, thanks dude. If it wasn't for your original thread I wouldn't have started this model.

I'm pretty much done with the building now. I've still got to bring the scribe lines out, add some grey panels etc...then deal with the lighting down the sides and on the bridge.

Here are a couple of pics.

I'll take some decent photos next weekend when I can borrow a better camera.

Thanks guys :$

I'm pretty happy with it. There are tonnes of bits I could have spent more time on and there are places that don't really hold up to close scrutiny, some proportions aren't quite right etc

It took just over 7 months to build from start to finish, with a month off over Christmas. I could have done with more careful planning rather than making it up as I went along but it was a good way to learn I guess.

Cheers
