I found this while browsing stuff on Instructables.com

I think that this idea with the VR-Eyeglasses could be used for a number of projects if done properly. Ironman comes to mind, although finding the place to fit the cameras would be the difficulty, although placing them in the eye socket would work.

Hope people don't mind me linking this I just thought it was really cool.

That is pretty neat. The VR glasses do bring a few projects to mind.

I think they could work really well and since the project was a few years ago I think that the glasses could be a tiny bit cheaper.

Actually, we've been playing around with VR glasses for Iron Man. There's a thread on the SIWDAT board; search for "Could this work?"

Basically, it uses Vuzix eyeware (a little easier to find, and less expensive than the iTheatre) interfaced into a netbook and webcams. In theory it works, haven't tried putting it in a helmet. I've sidelined the HUD for now because I'm not sure it's worth the extra "cargo" that will be needed to run the netbook - plus, I'm not totally sure there's room in the helmet for the eyewear and being able to open the faceplate.

But, who knows?

I will probably incorporate some of the HUD info into my build thread (when I start it).
