It's so nice to see so many Musketeer/Cavaliers about. back when I started doing SCA in the 70's, all everyone did was vikings and simple tunics. After a year of that, I decided it just wasn't me, too plain. I was one of the first Cavaliers in my area. I never did take pictures all that much, but here is a small picture of my first one, 1978. Very simple, using a spare Air Force dress jacket that I modified and my first boots that I modified from a pair of square toed harness boots. Those are still in use after 30 years. Since then I have made several others. Blue brushed corduroy, maroon velvet, full black leather and one I did a couple of years ago that was reversible. I'll never make one like that again, a real pain to work out, but it worked well for traveling to a Ren Fair in New Mexico, less to pack on the plane and it gave me several wearing options.

nice work, would love to see more pics! put them up here! This year will be better, I have custom made bucket boots from a lady on esty, have gotten a good hadndle on making falling bands and cuffs and the like, my SO got me a beautiful rapier and main guache for christmas, and my doublet this year is a red and gold brocade that will look awesome!

Got some new goodies for this years cavalier, a Leslie Harris Doublet, and custom made Bucket boots by zerkahloostrah, at ESTY, here the test fit with some mock up slops I had laying around. This I will actually be doing slops in the same fabric and go for the Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez look.

Gorgeus material. I'd love to find that in a black and gold. Quite an evolution from your first red crushed velvet to the present offering in such a short time, I'm jealous, I need to get back to that style, I haven't made a new cavalier in some time since I converted a black leather jacket and pants to cavalier just for the heck of it quite a few years ago now. Once I finish my current projects on the board, maybe.... Keep up the excellent work. :thumbsup

COol matchlock!!!!

Indy and Nightowl, thank you for the kind words. This was just a first fitting, sword is a Hanwei Gustav Rapier with a matching main guache, it will be on soon but need ot get a rapier belt in matching brown to my boots put together first.

Still tweaking and working my cavalier, now jsut working on what works and what doesn't. This weekend went well and I skipped the doublet for heat comfort.

And my outfit the weekend before was a total smash, but a little snug around the middle, back to working out again! :p
