Murloc, Ideas needed.

Well my brother was thinking about being a Murloc for Halloween. And so I decided I might give it a try.

For those of you that do not know what a Murloc is, its a popular character from WOW or World of Warcraft.


I guess what I'm getting at is what would some of you pro's use to build this at cheap. Is Pepakura an Option?

Or would cloth / foam with a layer of Latex be a decent Option?

Just looking for Ideas.

I vote foam. You would hate for a "mohawk" piece to break off. That way it has some give to it and can flap.

The suit itself should only be comprised of Murloc's face, head and back with an opening for your brother to climb in Murloc's belly and zip up. Perhaps you can use foam for the this torso piece, hands and feet then skin it with an airbrushed spandex suit like the Spider-man costume?

There was a merloc costume at Blizzcon a couple years ago, it won 1st Prize I think. It was just a simple foam/cloth costume.

Doing that would take awhile, but be pretty easy.

Liquid latex can give you an awesome skin over the whole thing. Make the costume out of foam hot-glued to an old shirt and pants, then cover it in panty-hose (yep) which can be lightly glued down in parts. Then paint it in a couple layers of liquid latex to give it that skin look. Keep in mind that it will be a ton hotter to be inside if it is all latex.

My best suggestion for how to be in it is to make the head come off of your brothers chest and have your brothers head be in the 'hump' with some eye holes in there, that way you don't have to hunch over.

And unless your brother is really good at making that telltale gurgling murloc aggro sound, he'll need some kind of hidden electronic gadget to play the sound on demand. This is not optional, everyone will expect to hear it!

I have the plush toy from jinx.com, it looks quite close to the second image. Squeeze its mouth and it makes the aggro sound.

Thx Guys, that's what I figured would be the best route, if I get it finished in time Ill post some progress pics and a final product.
