MR Stormtrooper helmet. Opnions?

All I can say is, very DISAPPOINTED. If that is a true picture of the final product then it seems to me that this does not look like an accurate ST Helmet. The face looks too narrow and the detailing is all wrong. Of course I could go on and on but a lot of it has already been said. They can say they scanned and moulded off an original or whatever they want, but if that isn't translated into the product then it's all for naught. Don't get me wrong, some of MRs's products are very nice, but they missed the boat on this one. I won't be buying it.

The fact that the first thing they go on and on about is the free print that comes with it and leave the helmet to talk about at the end is a bad sign. I could care less about the print, just give me an accurate helmet! If MR couldn't pull off making an accurate ST Helmet then I have my doubts that there will ever be an accurate licensed ST Helmet made. I am sure glad I have my SDS Helmet.

Well this was going to be my first MR ever purchase, but I can safely say now that it won't be...

Oh well...

Exactly! That's exactly what I thought in reading the description. Who cares about the damn print? And that print isn't exactly something that adds a whole lot of value to this thing. Actually, the helmet looks more like it was modeled after the helmet in the print than after the actual screen-used piece.

Also, they call it the hero helmet. Correct me if I'm wrong, but even as bad as that helmet is, it looks like a stunt helmet to me, not the hero.

The upside should be that anyone who might want one of these POS should be able to get them pretty darn cheap on ebay in the near future.

Even if we are sold out of the Stromtrooper Giclee, you can still purchase an authentic Stomtrooper Helmet Limited Edition.

Thats the funniest part of the description :lol
And yeah there are aspects which are stunt like but also hero like too a kind of weird hybrid

I'm gonna buy one. Hopefully I'll get a low number since it doesn't sound like anyone here is buying one.

Lemme ask you a question. Do you think that it could just be bad lighting or a bad photo...I mean besides all the technical stuff? Couldn't this just be a cool stormtrooper...ish helmet to wear?

Only one type of lighting is going to make that look good im afraid and thats pitch black.
Can i ask why you want one ? im not trying to be funny or anything i just dont understand why you would part with 400 sheets for a completely innacurate helmet when you can pick up some really nice helmets for less

I think it's safe to put a fork in this one. Anyone waiting for a licensed TK lid that's accurate, or at least evokes the ANH feel, is still going to be waiting.

I'll take my vacc'd gloss styrene hero (only 3 were made), any day... And, even it isn't completely accurate.

I just want to say something about the picture. I was supposed to get the latest helmet from Asia this week, but it did not make it. So, the picture that you see is the one that was at Toy Fair, but we "photoshopped" the some of the revisions. I am hoping to have some pictures this weekend to post of the real one.

Repeated for emphasis. Might want to downgrade the threat level from "this sucks, I ain't gettin' it" to "looks like it might suck, let's wait to see what the pics of the real deal look like".

My sentiments exactly, although it is not looking too promising at this point.

In the future, MR would be better off not releasing a photo or pic unless it is the EXACT same product you will be getting. And what's with all this business of MR using an SDS helmet to display and promote their TK lid?

If we don't get a final pic of the finished lid by Monday, then I will probably go ahead and pre-order in the hopes that the final product will be a vast improvement on the current set of images posted on the MR site. I can always cancel if the final product pics dont measure up.

All I am saying is that if looks like it does in those first pictures, I won't buy it. If suddenly they come out with some pictures of a fantastically accurate looking helmet then I probably will buy one. Only I have never seen an MR product come out that has the first pictures look so far off from the final product. If it is indeed going to be accurate it will have to be a HUGE jump in appearance from the current photos. I mean, it's going to have to look like a completely different helmet if that is the case.

None of us has seen the final product yet, but it seems that it will be a hybrid of some sort. I really don´t understand the meaning in making a helmet that is both a hero and a stunt model. I like ice cream, and I like meat, but i would never put them in a mixer and eat the result combined. We have seen the LE, CE and EE line, but this might be a new line of products, let´s call them HE (Hybrid Edition). I have waited a long time for an accurate Stormtrooper helmet from MR, but I will probably spend my money on another helmet.

If that's the case, surely MR would have been better served by waiting before publishing any pictures of the helmet, instead of adding innacurate pictures to their website next to the hefty $399 price tag.

If the final product is going to be so different why post pics of the 'donpostalike'?

It doesn't say on the website that 'These are not pics of the actual product' or anything of that ilk.

Whichever way you look at it, the helmet in those pics on MR's website looks poor. IF the pics are suddenly replaced by new pics of a super accurate looking helmet, it will surely change a lot of people's minds about this product. Until that happens, despite the possibility that the final product will look better, I can only call it as I see it.

What the hell is with MR? If you're trying to get people to part with $400 a pop, pictures of the real deal are in order. What, Asia couldn't email them pictures to put up on their site? The internet exists in Asia, does it not? It's not like their website puts up high quality, detailed photos anyway. One of the worst websites I've seen for the sale of products that are as expensive and detail oriented as MR's are supposed to be. Piss poor excuse in this day and age. Ranks right up there with, "my dog ate my homework".

For the helmet to warrant anywhere near what they're charging, it would have to be something completely opposite of what is seen in those photos.

But, lets not forget that they're including the giclee :rolleyes , over-valued at $85.00 for FREE! How 'bout you keep the friggin' drawing and lower the price by double that amount?

I've said it before, I'll say it again: MR is running MR to the ground. :unsure
