LE 589 arrived at my door today. :)

Mine also arrived today. Mine does also seem a bit darker than I recall. I presume, however that with studio type lighting that it will be pretty dead on. In any case, I'm happy with it.

Dave :)

Form what I understand from RS. The Falcon case should be from Philips measurements 25-3/4'' x 35-71/6'' Inside of the acrylic and outside height is 14. Be sure to refer to Philip Wise when ordering so they know what you need

Are you going to get a custom case cover for it? I'll probably buy one by the end of the month - it's going to cost around $300 shipped unfortunately.
[/b]

I've just got some prices on a custom made cover to fit the MR Falcon. Two different prices actually. The cheaper price is for 1/8" plexi, and the other price is for 3/16" plexi.

If there is enough interest (atleast 10) I will look into boxes for shipping.

I actually added 1" to the height off the measurements Barry gave.

26.25" x 36" x 15"

1/8" they would be $195.00 each
3/16" they would be $210.00 each

The covers are not heated and bent. They are cut, polished and sealed (glued?)

If there is enough interest I can take some close up pictures of my Enterprise - A case if anyone would like them.

They will come with the sticky paper on most of the plastic. My Ent-A cover was pealed off at the seams, but this is a good thing as it will help to protect it during shipping.

The shipping costs are NOT listed as I have no idea what they would be. If there is enough interest I can check into that as well.

Any Updates ??

In regards to cases and bases -

There is an outfit here in Southern Ca. (Fullerton) called Plexi-Fab that makes cases at reasonable prices. Shipping could be a pain, but it might be an option for those of use that can drive there and pick it up. Will forward the info when I get around to calling them for a quote. Their cases are nice - the top is bent and all edges are polished - very professional. Recommended.

As for a base - I discovered the LACK coffee table at IKEA is almost a perfect fit for the base. They make two models - one that is around 46" wide and another that is just shy of 36"x 22". I went for the smaller one due to the room size and it looks great. And it is a whopping $25.

Will post pictures later.

22"- So is the base hanging out over the edges of the table (given it's 26" wide)?

In regards to the table I got - yes, it does overhang. I was able to position it so that all of the 4" overhang is up against a wall and you can't see it. There is a bigger table where the base will not overhang on any side. I opted against that one due to personal taste. The bigger one is something like $40.

Gotcha. I'll have a look. Finding tables that are big enough without being ginormous has been frustrating me...

I'm with you about finding a table. It's tough. I finally used a smaller steel circular table I already owned and placed the Falcon and its base atop the steel table. Can't seem to post pics. I'll try later.

Had some fun with my minis while setting up my Falcon today.

Stop that ship. Blast em...

no real updates until I can get 10 people with the $$ to commit.

I would assume that after I place the order turn around time would be 10-14 days for the cases to be in my hands.

I can make an official "interest" thread in the JY, but right now if I remember right there are 5 interested people.

Make her pretty Jason, or should I say dirty pretty. The factory went black crazy on that one. UGH

I'll do ya proud.

What did you use for the base? Grime cut with white? I have a similar mixture perpped for the Y filter washes. I need to cut the black on the Falcon, for sure :p

I'm actually kinda glad I have an excuse to do this - I love fiddling with stuff.

I used a 50/50 mix white and grime...That is what LFL wanted. Still has enough tint of yellow.
keep us up on your repaint.

FYI, I believe they color-matched (accurately or no) Dymerski's base color to be the actual color of the cast material. I sanded a panel down and never did get through the base coat, if that's what it is. So I think if you sand or strip the weathering, you won't need to worry about matching the base color. The hull seems to be already that color.

Here's what I see different about the factory paint job when compared to the real deal - the red looks too "red" (could be my camera - need to check against the swatches I have, tonight), the hull looks too uniform beige, when in reality it was whiter in some panels and greyer in others, and the grey panels look far too blue in hue. The streaking, spotting, and scorches are okay, but I want it to look "real". So when I get some time this Spring, I'll repaint her and maybe add back some of the parts that were knocked off over the years... should be fun.

Depending on how locked down it is, I might redo some electronics, too - but that's not something I feel the need to do right now. As it is, it's an amazing piece, and I'm happy and proud to display it this evening..

Hmm.

I thought the colors were matched to the real deal. Has this change in paint shades occurred at the factory?
That's a little disappointing to see how "off" the red and grey panels are. :(
