MR E Cases

I am really having a hard time selecting a case for my MR TOS E. I have seen the cases for collectable models, but I don't care for the glossy base and have concerns about the quality of the clear plastic. I had settled on a version being offered by a guy over on the ASAP board, but he just raised his prices $55 and there are a couple of other problems. And now I see that Kodafett is offering one, but at $500, I can't bring myself to pay 1/2 again the price of the model for a case.

Does anybody have any other sources or some pics that may help me decide? :confused

How about making one out of glass? It seems like for the money people want, you could nearly buy an acrylic aquarium and flip it upside down!
There are lots of custon cases made with glass or acrylic, try a local craftsman in your area if you aren't confident in making your own.
You can make a wooden base and then have the five pieces of plex glued together at a plastics shop.
That is a big beautiful model though and I can understand your not wanting anything cheap around it.

Wow, I was hoping for some more ideas, I guess everybody is as vexed as I am...:wacko

I got mine from sgcases (http://sgcases.net) and it is very nice. The acrylic cover is top quality and the mirrored base is quite nice. The base is made of wood and appears to be painted semi-flat black or something similar. Definitely not the shiny black acrylic you are seeing from the other place.

The only downside on this case is that it does not come with any way to pass the power cable through. I am planning to drill a small hole in the base for this, but haven't done it yet.

The quality of workmanship from these guys has been great on the two cases I have bought from them so far.

Here's a photo from their site:
