MR 2006 lineup unveiled

What MR need to do is open offices in Australasia & Europe, to help the customers in those area's, with any probs regarding too orders or shipping.Punters can then save themselves a headache from knocking their head against the wall dealing with the main office in the U.S.

I too am very interested to hear more about the two "Studio Scale" Enterprises. :D

Of course one naturally assumes that these will be about 3 feet long, that being the size of the smaller filming miniature.

Also like to know if they have lights and/or sounds (how could they not? :lol)

The problem with the Unobtainiums was the resin they used, it reacted with the paint and consequently started deteriorating almost immediately. It produced an oily resin that leached out under the paint. Plus the model was insufficiently reinforced within, and so the heavy resin saucer and nacelles would sag, crack and buckle.

Most of all I am intrigued by the mention of a "pilot version" of the Enterprise. The Unobtainium was an attempt to replicate in small scale the larger 11-foot miniature of the Enterprise as it was seen during the regular run of the series:

At the very beginning, the 11-footer had slightly different detailing (note it has NO lights, the spikes on the nacelle caps, TALL bridge dome on top of the saucer, and the large dish antenna):

However the smaller model of the Enterprise, the one that was actually three feet long, was also unique (note especially the flat top and bottom of the saucer section):

So you can see there are many possibilities. :D

Looking at this pic one can only wonder if there will be a Studio Scale Klingon ship in the works in the future to go along with the Enterprise???

I really like some of the items but I wont be buying any of them as I live in Australia and refuse to pay the ridiculous shipping costs.MR you need more shipping options for overseas buyers.

Two things. I have to second the thing mentioned above. Shiipng the thing from the US to Germany (incl all the importing fees, taxes etc. will almost double the price) I think You never dealed with a German tax office guy, have You?

And the second thing, a ANH Luke LE as well as the SE?. Didn´t MR tell us that there was no such thing in the pipeline for the next yaer some months ago? I therefore got the EE, because I wanted it now. And it was quite expensive and hard to get it here in Germany (btw, still haven´t my second plaque) and now I get the news that a most like more movie accurate and cheaper version or even better a signed edition?. Sorry, but I´m more than pissed. If it was 2007 with the appearance of the 3D version it would have been ok, but this way.... I´m more than pissed, sorry. Thanks MR fpr burning my money.

I agree, MR has signalled its intentions over anyone outside USA.

However their policy of undermining the value of their "old" products by effectively re-releasing limited editions (in everything but name) may actually be our salvation

As they continue to tweak and re-badge their old product range ("30 Year ANH Special Edition" for 2007 anyone?), the price of these older products will fall allowing us collectors outside the US to pick them up at far more affordable prices

I just feel soory for people (myself included) foolish enough to believe that their "Limited" editions actually meant they were limited.

Cheers

They've gotta be running out of sabers to replicate if they have to turn to the Vader ROTJ. :lol Council sabers are always an option, though.

I'm glad that Qui-Gon's saber will finally be taken care of.

I am really curious as to what the material differences will be between the CE and LE.

If anyone know please share :)

Thanks.

Tom

Okay - I'm a bit confused. You don't list any Indy stuff.

Yet there is a Headpiece shown on the 2006 flyer.

Do I have another year to save up or am I going to be hit with them this year?

David

I think Amy said at rebelscum that the list will still be added to, so I imagine it is not a complete list yet.

What happened to the MEN IN BLACK Pistol? The J1 Gun? Does anyone know if this is shelved? Master Replicas Rep, what's the scoop??

You will still be able to get these one ebay cheaper, just gotta be patient.

Ya gotta admit its pretty ridiculous now that I can get pretty much any MR product they sell on thier site for at least 15% cheaper from anyone but Mr.

I guess this is thier way to stop that.

Let someone else take the MR hit and get it then.

prices will be coming down folks, unfortunately, for the investors , they are gonna be very unhappy people...

(Im bitter towards them anyhow, noone needs to preorder multiples of items just so they can unload them on ebay)...

CE and LE is bullcrap. I might stop collecting SW because of this. I've been buying LEs on eBay and through other outlets for significantly cheaper pricing, and if that has to stop, then so will I.

I guess thats the point, they dont have all that many sabers they even could do reasonably.

Council sabers?
Generic jedi sabers?

Those would barely sell.

MR is branching out because they have to .

A Boba Fett ESB helmet....this I gotta see :rolleyes  Mine took month's to complete it's movie accurate paintjob and wouldn't sell it for anything less than 1k.....The scrutiny this will go under will be relentless I'm sure. Which leads me to another point...why make a ROTJ EE3 when the helmet is an ESB :confused

I agree, this is one hard product to get 'right' I will reserve judgment until I see photos, as far as the blaster goes, maybe theyre going for the special edition Boba Fett, ROTJ suit with ESB helmet

I definately will buy the Falcon, Y-Wing and the Fett Helmet.. I have been wanting these for a long time.. :lol

Just a little dissaponited that there is no Indiana Jones products for 2006. :(

I have been a strong MR supporter. I love their product. But, I agree and am pretty pissed with practically redoing their line of sabers. I have a huge collection already of most of their original sabers. Again, as with their original Luke ROTJ, their collectability will drop. Thank you MR for being what I consider dishonorable. I'm practically through with them because of this. Just waiting for the studio scale Vader TIE.

I personally collect for my own enjoyment always - not future value. I do see quite a few new items on their list that they have never done before. Works for me. :)

GH your sig editions and LEs will still be worth money. i dont see what your saying, they will be different, and there will always people who want the different and better and original versions.

Already have a space cleared for Kermit and its nice to see them do The "Enterprise" for TOS Trek.

That's me, also.

Now the following is my own personal opinion, so please take it as so. :)

The CE line was created to serve 3 purposes:

- 1.) To provide collectibles to a broader demographic

- 2.) To continue to profit from closed product lines and keep them in business for years to come.

- 3.) To provide a product line that their retailers can continue to sell, as an attempt to smooth over the decision to make the LEs a (primarily)web-site only line.

Now...

The LE line was changed to a website-only product line for 2 purposes:
- 1.) To increase the site-based sales lost by retailers selling the LEs at prices extremely lower than the MSRP.

- 2.) To increase the value of the product line. Some say the CE edition will only lower it, but if the CE are made with lower quality material, I don't see this happening. By keeping the LE line solely to the MR website, MR can control the price at which it is being sold at. As we've noticed with almost all of the MR LE props, you have the initial frenzy by retailers to sell these props(such as on E-bay) and has created a selling war, which always drives the value WAY down. This period of time can last for a year or more. Then when supplies start running out, the value starts going back up and surpases the MSRP(look at the Dooku LE). By controlling the initial price of the LE, you will not see this HUGE price dip and the value will start going up sooner. The downside to this is for those of us who are making out like bandits on some of these props... now we will be forced to start paying prices closer to the MSRP... until MR decides it is time to put them on sale. :)
