Re: <<< MPP >>> anyone??? _ NEW PICS - AUGUST 21st

Wow - beauty! Will the name plates come attached or unattached?

Re: <<< MPP >>> anyone??? _ NEW PICS - June 21st

Shouldn't the tripod socket in the endcap be threaded?

Not having an original to compare to, that's the only constructive criticism I have.

I don't believe so, but will check the Original that teecrooz sent me for reference. :thumbsup

Should be threaded, not sure about the size (never used it)

Yep threaded, and I believe it's the same as a modern camera mount which is 1/4-20 if memory serves. My MPP is in a box at the moment or I would check.

Re: <<< MPP >>> anyone??? _ NEW PICS - AUGUST 21st

I believe that a standard thread size has been around for decades.

Re: <<< MPP >>> anyone??? _ NEW PICS - June 21st

Or, if the threads are different, create a hybrid. An MPP style endcap that only fits Heilands. No doubt Heiland owners would jump on such an upgrade.

Heiland's are too long. If you were going to upgrade the Endcap, you'd probably want to cut down the Heiland tube to the proper length, in which case, you wouldn't be using the threading to keep the end cap on anyway.

Okay so I can say for certain that the bottom hole IS threaded, large/course threading, but the hole is much larger than today's camera mounts. I have an older (at least 20 yrs) full size/tall tripod, a small table mount one, a wrappable legs one, and a high action filming (selfie stick) one; each of which are about 75% the size of the MPP hole of my vintage. The tripods I tested all have the same diameter and threaded mount screw which is also different in thread count from the MPP, likely due to smaller sizing.

The hole is however the same size as my Kobold flashes and if you notice in the picture the mounting plate that came with one of my Kobolds has 2 end screws that fit both flashes and a smaller screw in the middle that is the size of today's tripods/mounts.

yes the real one is... but I think Roman should NOT have it threaded... for an obvious tell for the replica. Just my opinion...

I did send Roman confirmation of the threading as soon as it was brought up by Mike.

I like that idea, Scott. Someone would make an after market replacement piece either way, so I guess it doesn't matter if Roman gets it done or someone else does.

Re: <<< MPP >>> anyone??? _ NEW PICS - AUGUST 21st

We're arguing over small holes big holes, diameter of head screws, and we're NOT going to ask to replicate the threading correctly?!

People add proof marks to C96 replicas so their blasters look more accurate, although it isn't pretty.

Replicating the threads, even if we're not going to use it as a flash on a tripod, is something I want in my replica.

Please replicate the MPP flash as accurately as you replicated the Graflex and OWK real parts.

Re: <<< MPP >>> anyone??? _ NEW PICS - AUGUST 21st

As with other parts of this project before - original we were asked if we want a MPP replica, not if we want a crippled replica.

So, sure the threading is needed. We were able to see on the Graflex replica that there will be always a little variance from the real deal, even without any on purpose mistakes.

And Scott, on one side i´m sure you are able to identify a real over the replica, and on the other side i´m sure you would thread the hole for your custom builds if requested by the paying customer, probably for a little fee?

Oh no I totally understand... MY OCD would trump not having it threaded... I'd thread it. Lol.. I'd also personally want it threaded. But I don't want anyone to get scammed either. Roman, you're gonna have to list the tells. ^_^

Re: <<< MPP >>> anyone??? _ NEW PICS - AUGUST 21st

Well the most recent sample pics don't appear to have them so need to update that.

Re: <<< MPP >>> anyone??? _ NEW PICS - AUGUST 21st

I would like it threaded if possible but it's not a deal breaker if it can't happen.
