Ok, I really opened thread here, because I didn't know, where to put it. It ain't replica or screen used. If one mod knows the apropiate section, don't hesitate to move it :thumbsup.

My recent interest of knives has resurfaced, but I'm not really a collector. Yet I haven't seen a complete thread dedicated to knifes, so here it is. You can post any info regarding every knife you know that has been shown in a movie or tv-series. Special features, history behind it and trivia.

This is an information thread only - please no discussions. It is intended as an database.

Hi there,
what qualifies as a knife, I like the Glaive from the 80's film Krull so made a replica of it...it has five knife like blades to it

I don't have any pictures that I believe I can link to (I think they're all copyrighted), but there's always the Jimmy Lyle knives used in the Rambo series.

In almost any war film featuring US Marines after 1942, you'll find somewhere their 'signature' blade - the USN MkII and subsequent derivatives aka the KA-BAR knife:

I've always been partial to the bone knife used by Tristan (Brad Pitt) uses in Legends of the Fall.

A few years ago I researched it a bit, but sadly do not know where the materials I was reading ended up. I do believe though that the director (Swick) may have kept the hero knife.

Oh oh....

Gerber MkII, featured in Aliens.
It's the blade carried by Hudson and used by Bishop to "do the thing with the knife":

From The Hunted. The official blade is coated and printed, but shape wise is correct. The fights were excellent, as is the design.

I used to have an original Dave Beck 'Wilderness Survival Knife' from 'The Hunted'. He made the actual knife in the film.
Just after the movie came out, he came out of retirement and started making them again. I was one of the first to get one of the post movie knives.
Unfortunatley I had to sell it a few years ago but made 3 times my money back.
I worked with Dave on a few other knife designs after that as well. Great guy and it's too bad he's not making knives anymore.

When I was 14 I met Jack Crain who made all the knives in 'Predator', 'Commando', 'Die Hard' etc. etc.
He was a really nice, down to earth guy and we chatted back and forth for years. Whenever I had questions about knifemaking I'd always call him. At one point I owned 3 of his knives. He's another one who's not making knives anymore but gave us some of the most legendary knives in movie history with the 'Predator' machete and the 'Life Support System' knives.

I'm currently working with knifemaker Shane Sibert on a very special project that's for me, 20 years in the making. I can't say anything about right now other than that it's film related.
Shane also made the knife used by Clive Owen in 'Sin City'. Cool dude and he makes some of the most bad ass knives around.

Everything. The steel used, the handle fasteners, the handle material, the finish, the sawteeth, the edge grind, the heat treat are all different.
The Dave Beck knife was made by him, by hand out of 0-1, differentailly heat treated. It was also highly polished and gun blued. Beautiful knife.

I think the Gerber Mark II also is the boot knife used in The Road Warrior. You don't get much of a shot of it, but it looks like it.

Steven Seagal also uses one of those cheapo Gill Hibben throwers (although not the same one pictured above) in Under Siege.

The knife used by the Umbrella Guards in Resident Evil Apocalypse was modeled after the "United Cutlery Lightning Bolt" throwing knives.

The Sportman's Guide awhile back was offering what it claimed to be a faithful reproduction of Bale's Terminator Salavation knife. I started a thread on it back then, but noghting came of it.

As I posted in another thread, it appears that movie tie-in knife is made by Boker in Germany as part of their Magnum series:

You're right, though, that the price is exorbitant.
