Movie concept art vs Original

I think it's worth noting that the "garden gnome" image of Yoda was just one of MANY conceptual designs for the character because Lucas didn't have a clear image of what he wanted, just that he wanted him short and sort of wizard like. Even Jabba went through numerous permutations before they hit on the final design maquette which was very close to what ended up in the film. And that Chewie design is a very early McQuarrie, there are later sketches that look much more like our beloved wookie.

The concept art for Star Wars is amazing. Just seeing it, you can imagine that if they hadn't changed it, we would have seen a gnomes movie or something like that :)

Where is this image from? Did they do an "Art of" Book for GB??

Love that pic! He was supposed to die in the film but they had such great footage of the empty cage being attacked they changed it. :)

That's right - one of the great white's Ron and Val Taylor filmed in Australia got stuck on one of the mini prop cages (with nobody in it) and proceeded to smash it to pieces. They had to find a way of getting Hooper out of the cage in order to use the footage. So Hooper lived.

Me knowing that should help me win that piece of ORCA I think... ;):lol

You see this in game art books too, half the time the original designs are way more interesting than what they put into the games (they're also usually way more complex to build in CGI).
