Most accurate kylo ren costume? (NOT ANOVOS)

well it's likely that the most accurate Kylo costume BESIDES the Anovos would be someone's custom build, because there's no way anything coming from Xcoser or Cosplay Sky or any of those other piles of dung are going to rival a custom RPF build or Anovos.

Besides the Anovos the most accurate is gonna be a custom build. Xcoser, Cosplay Sky, Costume Base, etc. are cheap for a reason. They're passable, but they're not going to be accurate by any means.

If you want to go "inaccurate" but "accurate" then I guess Xcoser premium. It's as good as you'll get without going custom but you're still gonna have to do some tailoring to make it fit properly.

HAHAHAHAAHAAHAHAAHAHA! Under a $150... >snk< >snk< "Accurate"... Have you tried Hoth Topic?

To be serious, as mentioned your closest bet is Xcoser - but then you'll still have to do some mods to it, (and it's more than $150 to start.) Correction.. ANY pre-built costume you buy, either Xcoser or Amazon, etc., you will end up modding.
IF you're making it, you'll be over that just for the Tunic fabric alone....
The best accuracy is guided by the CRL as far as general parts and description.
(Did you really mean $1,500?)
I'm not laughing at you, just trying to instill a sense of realistic expectations.

200 bones is still "a lot" to most people. not everyone has spare money to blow on an investment like a costume, which is why this forum has so many members learning the trade and starting out with pepakura and foam. OP this is an expensive hobby, I suggest to start one part of a costume at a time that you can afford to do without going broke.

This is a very good point. Pepakura and foam are great ways to build decent items with a good amount of time invested. Some of us don't quite have the time to build everything from scratch, and it's easier to pay an artist that already builds a great item to build it for us. Generally if I can build it myself in a decent timeframe and save money I go that route, but for things like leather I don't have the tools to space to work with it. I'm fortunate that I have a job that pays well, so it's easier for me to put in a few extra hours at work to cover the things that I can't afford to spend the time to make. When you get to a point of a full time job, significant other, kids, and have other hobbies besides this one (gym, Taekwondo, video games, anime, cars, etc. for me) you get busy very quickly and to put life on hold to build a full costume is sometimes out of the question. Certain costumes are much cheaper and easier to build than others. Since this is a multi-layered costume that involves quite a few accessories it's not a cheap one to build. Same went for my Link costume. It's got multiple layers along with armor and weaponry so it wasn't cheap to build either. My cheapest costume cost me 300 bucks to do, and that was just a dye-sub Green Lantern with a few accessories.

The word "accurate" is also a very personal definition.
I know people(my mother...haha)that would say, that one of the kidslike Vader toyhelmets looks like on screen!:lol

But about this build:If you have the skills or really want to learn it to make your own softparts you can save a lot of money. But all the materials are more than 200$ at the end.But you can work over months...so you have only 200$ a month.;)

This isn't exactly true. If you want to get into the 501st, then yes, go by the CRL. That's where the accuracy stops. The CRL will be completely overhauled at some point soon because it was written (rushed) before the movie was even released, and before proper reference was even available.

...and under $200.

I'm in your same boat. I am definitely going over that figure quite a bit, but I'm trying my best to not go insanely over. Let's do a breakdown. So far, I've got my Black Series helmet ($73 shipped on eBay) and Disney Store lightsaber ($32.50) plus a better speaker for it ($5) and a balaclava ($5). Going to mod the helmet and lighsaber (basically free, at most an extra $10). So, I'm at about $115 into it right now.

8-10 yards of decent basketweave fabric (not screen accurate, but better than any online retailer's pre-made costume fabric) will be roughly $100-130ish. The pleated tunic fabric I can source from Joann Fabrics and I'll get it with a 50% off coupon. Hopefully I can achieve this in the $50-60 range. Tallies up to $205, max.

I've got a lambskin hide in the mail ($18 shipped) that will yield enough material to make my neck seal and my belt. I've got velcro already (if you don't... $5 max). I need to get the belt buckle 3D printed ($15-20).

Decent gloves (correct back of hand stitching, no palm stitching, fake leather) are $22 on eBay. GREAT gloves from EndorFinders.com are $56 (correct everything and real leather). Decent boots (accurate straps and front strips, but not side pleats... fake leather) are $50 on eBay. Akademiks Coated jeans on eBay/Amazon are $20-25.

All said and done, I will be in the $300 to (very max) $400 range. Of course, I will be making the costume myself, along with a lot of help from my mom! Yes, I'm 32 and still rely on Mommy for help :$.

Now, if you don't mind even less accurate fabric for the outer, you can shave even more money off with monk's cloth at Joann Fabric (use a 50% off coupon and get it for about $5-6 a yard). There are cheaper helmets on the market than the BS, but I liked it the best for the price it was. There are some full helmets out there for half the price of the BS. If you don't need accurate-ish boots and gloves, get rubber boots from Walmart for $20 and plain black gloves for $5. How's that? Best of luck, my friend!

I'm new to this section and gathering information so please forgive me if any of this has already been covered before, but I'm looking for the most accurate Kylo Ren costume available right now that's available from a custom maker. I know ANOVOS is supposed to be completely screen accurate, but I don't really want to wait until November(and if their other products are any indication it probably won't even be available by then anyway) so I'm wondering if anyone here knows of a costume that come close to their level of screen accuracy. I'm not looking for a budget costume from any of the eBay makers, but rather something that is up to the high standards of members here. I've already found someone who will mod the Black Series helmet for me and I've found recommended makers for pieces like the belt, neck seal, gloves and boots so all I really need is the accurate soft parts. I'm going to be putting the whole thing together on a mannequin for my display room and my ultimate goal is to have a full 1:1 statue that looks exactly like what is pictured below. If anyone has any recommendations or is looking to take on a commission for this costume please PM me with any information you might have. Thanks. :cool
