Mos Eisley Cantina Tables

I liked the grooved one better but hell… I’d settle for a full size smooth one too

What I’d love to do is make some medium size ones for side tables to my couch….

That’s what this is gonna be. In the cantina it was much higher. I can going to make it like a small table you put between two chairs. About the size of an end table. This is 26” in diameter and 26” tall in its present form. I can change diameters and heights. Already thinking a lower version for a coffee table would be cool. Just need to get my wife on board.

And second, there’s no way the production team would have imported US-manufactured bins to the UK. Pretty much everything in terms of sets and costumes and props for the first Star Wars film was made in the UK by British teams.
We have no manufacturer information. They could have been made in China and sold worldwide for all we know.
This was just presented as a possible lead.

Well, that was kind of my point. Back in the 70s it was uncommon for large low-tech items to be made overseas and shipped around, the way it is today.

Anyway. I don't disagree that the mystery table might've been something along the lines of that bin or a planter. I just suspect that focusing on a US manufacturer in this case might be a dead end. :) But hey - that's just my take!

Just found this one on the inter-webs

The general height for a normal table is between 28" and 29". I think that the receding base is higher than 2". So, 26"tall is too much IMO;)

Totally not correct, but in my search I just found these… 100% could be used as a sci fi prop

I might be at the taller end, but I am a tall guy too. If this is too tall when it’s done, then I can use it as a display stand make another.

Nonsense. That doesn't look screen accurate at all!

Now *this* is what you need.

What size printer do you recommend to print these end tables?
I bought one of the Elegoo Orange Storm Giga printers that does 800x800x1000. It’s why this project is happening now.

I had a few labor intensive solutions to making out of wood and then making a fiberglass mould, but never followed through due to cost.

This is about 8kg of filament to make this one table. So not as costly as the other method.

Double update today. Sanding underway on the print and the table base is made.

The outer walls are easy enough to hit with an orbital sander, but the grooves will need to be done by hand. The printed piece slides over the base for inner support. I need to cover the bottom for the toe kick which will also provide extra support to the print.
