Mortal Kombat Scroll (1995 movie)

I always wanted to make a replica of the scroll (some kind of fighting invitation) as seen in Mortal Kombat.

Johnny Cage gets the scroll from Shang Tsung in form of his Master. Im pretty sure everyonr remembers the scene.

This could be a little fun project, but I try for years to identify the small figures at the end of the scroll. At first I thought these were some chinese lions or dragons, but looking closer it looks like figures of old men. Theyre very special and they look like they don't belong there. It looks also they are poorly screwed to the wooden sticks.

But after all the are Part of the prop. So... Anyone know these figures? Or seen something similar? Or someone have any other input for me? Help is very welcome... I searched for these figures every now and then, bit found nothing...

I would guess they could be from a asian chess set. Something like the smallest figures on this page : Resin Chinese Chess Pieces

Looking for chess figures is a good idea. Maybe that's an interesting idea, if I decide to make not an acurate Version of the scroll, because at this moment I think the chances to to find exactly the same figures are not that high...

But chinese chess figures could be a good alternative...
