Costumes belong in the costume section, correct? Aren't helmets costumes?
And yes, I'm talking about the plethora of SW items. :lol

depends on the context of the item...

if the member is just referencing it as a helmet, then it is a prop replica...

however, if the poster is referencing it as a piece of his trooper costume then it is a costume....

big difference between the two....

think of it as a ham sandwich.....the ham (helmet) just by itself isnt a sandwich (costume), however when you add bread etc etc...you got yourself a sandwich (costume)

Personally, I agree with EvilRocketeer. I have lots of helmets, but I don't do costuming/cosplay... or read the costume forum.

It can be a fine line, but we make a distinction between display purposes and costuming/cosplay.

Sure a helmet can be used for costuming but for many, many members, the helmets are used mainly for display purposes. The costuming forum has evolved into more of a separate section for those interested in active costuming and cosplay.

Doing research on an item, even though part of a costume, still fits logically in the prop forum. So many items can be worn as part of a costume that it would be next to impossible to draw a clear distinction between what belongs exclusively in each forum. It is our feeling that, for the most part, the members can decide on the purpose of their thread and therefore determine the best place for it.

Crossover between those two forums was and is inevitable and expected.

I can see your point although i kinda agree with what the others have said that it's about what the piece is going to be used for.
To continue the discussion without trying to take it off topic i wonder what yours and others opinions are on things like custom designs or busts for example ?
They're not strictly replica props either are they but they do showcase the persons creativity and workmanship.
