MOONRAKER SHUTTLE Replica

The Mantis

PHArchivist is an artist....to call him anything else would be an insult. Some people are modeller's or hobbyist but when I received my Moonraker shuttle from him this week I could only put him in the category of one of the great scale artists on this board. Although the below pictures should speak volumes I will tell you that this man KNEW quite well he was building this for a Bond fanatic and took great pains to make the finished piece as close to the movie original as possible. It shows. Every smoke swirl, every carbon scoring, every line and nuance is there. I am displaying it amongst the Moonraker pieces I have in my collection but observers have remarked already that it stands out quite profoundly on the wall and looking as if it has been launched through the poster work. It is exactly at eye level so all can marvel at the detail and passion that went into this piece. All I can say is thank you, Rob. thank you for putting the time and effort into making a piece that any Bond fan would feel proud to display and own. It was worth the time it took to create and finish this...

Looks great.. Rob did a fantastic job on it.

The mounting method is very distracting and rather annoying, the curled metal hold downs really dristract from the model, it looks like an Octopus is trying to grab ahold of it from behind.

Get that redone and it will make a very nice display.

Lynn

LOL, you are right about the curls...happily it is a temporary mount but gives everyone a good idea of how the final positioning will look. Couldn't wait till then to get pics posted...:)

I have to agree with Lynn. I would take a dremel to them and cut them off at a .25" up.

Otherwise, it is a beautiful display.

Is that a bust of Richard Kiel (AKA JAWS)?

Stunning paint job. The attention to detail is superb. Rob, this is truly a museum quality piece. :thumbsup Mantis, you have an awesome collection.

:eek Very, Very, VERY nice. The detail on the shuttle is quite simply amazing. Great work PH and a superb addition to your collection Mantis.

Wow, what an incredibly gracious wirte-up. Thanks Dave.

I must say in return (with all sincerity) that Dave was an absolute pleasure as a client. This project took longer than he and I expected, both for reasons within my control, and for reasons beyond my control. Dave's patience was that of a saint, and really made the process comfortable. Thank you too, Dave -- glad you like it.

Hey, Rob, could you post the rest of your pics now in the other thread? We would all love to see the final steps to the completion of this project. :) (I noticed this was Moonraker 5. :thumbsup )

I am very glad everyone is enjoying seeing it...the build up thread is a good read and shows the heart and soul that went into this piece.

I know this was a custom build and a fantastic job it is. I was wondering is there a NASA Shuttle kit out there that could be converted to look like the Moonraker shuttle? I'm wondering cuz right now I'm broke and things are tight but it could be a fun project if there is a kit that might be close to the 'Raker" shuttle.

Thanks
