Monogram USS Voyager, the "I don't know what I'm doing" build.

The Aztec scheme on voyager would have been a nightmare. I'm not looking forward to tackling it on the Ent A refit. I need to find a very good masking medium that u can re-use of possible but it is certainly going to take some practice on various large sheets of card to ensure that i get it right before i go anywhere near that model with it!

Did a little more detail painting on the secondary hull. (Anything to procrastinate on those windows.)

I also frosted the deflector dish and then painted it with a metallic orange/copper color. It looks kind of weird, but when the deflector array is on and there's a light behind it it has a nice effect.

Im going to the detail in sub assemblies next time, big mistake on the current build! You just cant get into some areas for painting once she is all together.

Hi sry to tell but I think the Phaser banks are much to gold ore to shinny

May ask Doug Drexler he designed the ship may he can tell you the right color codes

you find him one Facebook ore here I guess

But all over all very cool clean and nice build better than my first one lol

All the best Rewen

I'm not too thrilled about the color of them either. The paint came out sort of thin on them anyway, so I plan to touch them up with a slightly darker shade when the model is farther along. Thanks!

I am still researching for my studio-scale reproduction, and I haven't found any color references yet... If I find them, soon, I will let you know what the studio painted it. :)

Seems like a lot of the pics don't work there, but if you're talking about the paneling effect I was planning on doing that as well. I bought a new airbrush with that in mind already. :)

I checked out that site myself and didnt like the panelling effect, it makes the hull look like it is rippled, well to me it does anyway. I was happy with going with flat colours although i am going to use some wash and may even use the pencil trick on the panel lines.

The real model has that shading effect.

Yep! And I am going to have to practice a LOT with my airbrush to get it right. (It only looks rippled when you are half-way done. When you go back and shade in the other direction, it starts to look pretty cool.):D

PS- the thumbs looked horrible, but when I clicked on them I got an enlarged image that was pretty clear.

So what is the status of your build?

I have a question for the team: I bought a Revell version on eBay that was water damaged and the seller thought all the parts were there. It was around $33 including shipping from England and the picture looked like everything was there so I had to go for it. I got it and it looked great except the decals, but no surprise there and I was planning on using the upgrades from JT Graphics. I was putting everything back in the box when I noticed some parts were missing. The two hinge pins that I would probably have replaced anyway. But crucially, the part that fills the big hole in the front top of the saucer is gone. Any ideas on how I can get that replaced? It would be stupid to buy another kit, and even if they sold them I cannot get a replacement part from Germany because it looks like the "proof of purchase" section of the box was already used.

The status of mine is "on hiatus". I'm not happy with how the top of the saucer came out, I'm contemplating just getting a new one rather than redo my work.

If you get a new one, start at the rear of the model and let me borrow the piece I am missing so I can make a copy of it.
