AICN Exclusive: Your First Look At Mondo's Newest JAWS and ET Posters - Ain't It Cool News

Eric Vespe: "Now, the Jaws poster is less striking visually than the gorgeous ET poster, but for Jaws nerds like me it’s crack cocaine. I love that it looks like a travel poster that only has subtle references to the film and to the shark itself (look to the orange and yellow beach umbrella if you miss it).

That ET poster is marvelous. Somewhere Nordling’s jaw just dropped and a tear fell from his eye and he doesn’t know why.

Did you spot all the easter eggs in the Jaws poster? Pippet makes an appearance, Chief Brody’s car, the Brody children, Alex Kitner’s raft… Beautiful. I want a full Robert Shaw in the ultimate badass Quint fighting the shark pose next, okay, Mondo?

Mondo will release both of these posters tomorrow at a random time. Make sure to follow Mondo’s Twitter @MondoNews to be alerted to the exact time they go on sale.
Mike Mitchell’s ET is 36X24, has an edition of 475 and will cost $45, Laurent Durieux’s Jaws is 24X36, has an edition of 525 and costs $60."

Passing on these, I was never a fan of E.T., and while I love Jaws, I'm not a fan of that poster. Another case of Mondo not having the rights to the actor's likenesses.

The Scott Campbell Lord of the Rings Balrog vs Gandalf poster, where Gandalf and the Balrog are both smiling? You know that one?

ANYONE know where I can get one? I have tried the forum, eBay. :( Help!

Here's the one I have been dying for. Anyone have any idea where I can buy a print?

HELP! Thank you. Sorry to hijack the thread!

Gonna try like hell to get the Jaws and ET posters today. I've struck out every time so far so fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, this was not offered as a print. Scott Campbell's work is hardly ever (if never) offered as a run. He typically does individual pieces for galleries, where they're sold. The one above he did for Gallery 1988 this past October, along with dozens of others.

He released a book this past October here, including a bunch of his previous work. Nothing from the October Gallery 1988 show is included, since it happened after the book's release. (I'm not 100% sure about that though.) I'm sure Campbell will be releasing another book some time in the future. A book is really the only way you'll be able to obtain a copy of the work, unless you're able to track down the person who purchased the original! :) Then again, if you really want it, I suppose you could always print out your own copy and frame it.

BOMB! At least my luck hasn't changed. Prints were sold out in a NY minute. I was logged in and ready too. The computer stalled for a sec on the Jaws print and I had hope for a moment.

Anyone score on the LOTR release today, the "Precious Cargo" print was pretty awesome, just not in the budget for me right now!

I passed on those as well, I thought they were pretty great, but I also don't really have the money right now. Also, I'm just about completely out of wall space. I think I'm going to have to start bolting my framed prints to the ceiling.

I am kinda in the same boat, I finally just ordered a frame for my Olly Moss LOTR to hang up....somewhere

I'm very picky on my prints now. I still have 12 prints to frame and the only one I can buy an off the shelf frame for is my mondo Dawn of the Dead. The other 11 need to be custom framed.

Admittedly I could frame 3 of them with a frame I found on amazon but its very cheap and I'm not sure how I can hang it as its very cheaply made.

So, if anyone is interested, Tyler Stout just announced that he's selling 5 copies of his 'Let The Right One In' print, and 5 copies of his 'Akira' print, at 400 bucks a piece, via email lottery.

I wouldn't say the LTROI print is worth that, I'm sure you could find one for cheaper on the EB forums. The Akira print though, you won't find it for nearly as cheap anywhere else. I personally already own the LTROI print, but *******, do I want that Akira print. Thing is, I don't have 400 bucks to spend on a print right now. Even if I did, I'm not sure I'd let myself spend that much on a single poster.

tstout assorted info: LTRIO / AKRA lotto

EDIT: Ah, Vivek, I see you got that email as well. :)

I am in the same boat, as I don't have the sufficient money right now. So I may not be entering in the lotto.

But that Akira poster has been my #1 most desired Tyler Stout and Mondo poster ever since I saw it in this article back in 2011, that was when the Mondo Mystery Movie program first started.

And I have always imagined that if I ever have too much disposable income, I would go to the lengths to spend $2000 on that poster on ebay with the BIN option. So right now $400 seems like a great deal :lol.

Exactly. Considering that it was only available at the Mystery Movie event, and such a small run, my hopes of ever obtaining one were pretty much non-existent. Now here it is, possibly available for 400 bucks, the best deal I'll ever see. No money for it though. Hahahah, oh what a cruel world! ;)
