Models for 3D Printer.

So in two weeks I will have access to a brand new 3D printer, which is amazing. I'd really like to start getting hold of some decent 3D models to use with the printer but my searches online only seem to be able to turn up low poly models which obviously isn't what I'm after.

So my question is does anyone know of any great places to get hold of 3D models of things that would spark my interest? This maybe anything from a Judge Dredd belt buckle to a Hi-Res Ironman helmet/armor. Also I want to know the board rules when it comes to using other peoples 3D models for printing, would this be considered recasting in some form?

I just want to get some projects under my belt without stepping on anybody's toes.

Thanks,

-Dan.

Im pretty sure its all down to the creator. If the files are openly free then I cant see the problem. If you were to cast and sell them however I doubt any creators would be happy. Its upto them either way. People have bought moulds from other people on here and done runs because theyve had permission.

Thingiverse.com is another great place to go, by the creators of makerbot and with a load of people uploading their own files

I'm working on a high def 3d printable Iron Man Mark III helmet right now. The faceplate is done. I will have a thread about it soon with a link where you can download the STL of it.
