Mobile Edition of the RPF

In my ongoing quest to be a total geek, I'd like to see a version of the RPF that's veiwable and postable by mobile phones.

I can view the site fine (on my PocketPC phone) but the WYSIWYG editor has lots of Javascript/AJAX and I can't post (at least I assume that's the problem).

I'd like to suggest that you all look into:

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?p=1271410

or similar plugin that allows for mobile browsing.

And if we already have such a plugin... what's the link?? :D

I second the motion ! :)
with the iPhone 3G underway, there will be more mobile users like me.

or a RSS option for latest posts.

Interesting...I turned Javascript off and have no problems posting this message? I'm unable to click emoticons or do any formatting, but that's about it...

I'm attempting to post this from my 3G enabled LG Vu.

EDIT: Well, it looks like it worked :D

The forum as is does have some Javascript issue with mobile IE, but other then that it works fine with several other browsers... Mobile IE more so then it's PC counterpart is a really a poor browser...

I use and prefer Opera Mobile on my HTC Mogul and it works just fine...

And with the release of the very promising Skyfire browser I will probably make the switch to that, once it becomes available...

The Vu is on AT&T, which uses MEdiaNet as it's default browser. I tried Opera Mini and I really didn't care for it. I found it harder to navigate than with MEdia, so I got rid of it.

Safari on the iPhone is great - now if apple would just open it to everyone, that would be sweet. I know it's a firmware issue, but both iPhone and Vu are on AT&T. You would think they would try to strike a deal for shared applications.

Opera Mini and Opera Mobile are two entirely different browsers... Opera Mini is a generic java program, while Mobile is a real OS based program...

BTW this post was made from my phone... Not a perfect browser or functionability but it does work...

Just seeing if I can browse the forum and post from my iphone. Seems to work pretty well.

The iPhone seems to handle the RPF just fine. :cool

Although a mobile friendly version would be ideal...

What are people really looking for in a mobile version? I asked because this site is simply a forum, plain text there is not much you can do to make it more simple or phone friendly...

On that you can go into your CP and change some options that should make it more phone friendly...

Disable avatars
Disable images

And change to the basic text box reply option, as they WYSIWYG option is probably the only thing most phones will have big issues with...

Other then that I don't see what else could be changed to make it more phone friendly...
