Mini Vader saber

I bought alot of models in an E-bay lot sale. Well with cold weather and nothing to do. I decided to work on some of the models. One of them was a vinyl Vader. The only problem was that it came with an Obi-wan lightsaber. So of course I had to make the right one for Vader.

Yes it is. When I bought all of the stuff in the lot. I paid $100 for all of it. All I wanted was the models so I resold all of the crappy figuares, pez dispensers,Burger king toys etc. got all of the $100 back and basically got the models for free. I ended up with 25 models total!:thumbsup Here's a couple that I have finished.

I bought the Ertl Luke figure years ago and instead of coming with a Graflex Luke saber it has the Darth Vader ROTJ saber.

I guess during packaging they just tossed in whatever lightsaber they grabbed.

Nah, actually Luke has a silver Vader saber on the box-top photo.

Based on the year those were produced, I don't think they had much reference to go by. Bob Anderson used the Shared Stunt saber to practice with, even in costume on-set. If Ertl used those photos as a reference they might have thought the Obi saber was the Vader saber.

Yeah that's the smallest of the ERTL X-Wings. NIce paint-up for such a small model. That snowspeeder is fantastic!

Thanks. I have always liked the hand painted look instead of decals. Reading the X-wing series. Rouge Squadron hand painted their X-wings. So to me they shouldn't look perfect. The Rebels didn't have the resources that the Empire had. Hence their ships were always dirty and battle worn.

That's a nice little saber. I'm also making one for a Marmit styled 1/6 figure I've been working on. If you don't mine I'll post a pic of the saber and get you to tell me what you think, if you would. :)

That's an eight inch X-wing. These are 1/72 scale. I have this Ertl Vader too! I still have the saber he came with, but I made my saber out of stainless steel tubing that a friend of mine got someplace. I used an old noeprene gasket for the hand grips, and drilled indentations for the lights in the hilt. Mine is based on the Empire strikes back version with a glossy helmet, and glossy armour. I wish I had thought of the brass tubing instead-it would've been easier to machine. Yours still looks damn good!:)
