Michigan Prop Party

Wow.. :(
The one prop party each year I honestly dig going to and had to miss this time. Sucks, but it is nice to see all had a good time.
Also fitting that Jordan's name and work are carrying on.

Sorry I missed you all. Would most definately been cool as always.

David

Thought I would let everyone know that I am now back in Kansas again. I had a great time Outlander was a great host as well. I will deffinetly make it to next years party as well as one of the East coast parties so I can see some of you again and meet others as well.

Seconded. I know MWells was so busy networking he forgot to pick up and use his camera - in fact, Tom and Jason had to rescue it at the end of the night - but certainly someone else took pictures....

I have to say thank you to everyone who brought props and organized this event. It was my girlfriend's and little brother's first prop party. I know my brother got a KICK out of the R2-D2... in fact, he couldn't stop talking about it on our trip back home.

Sorry I didn't introduce myself more to people. I'm just still getting into this whole hobby, but the level of talent some people have is truly inspiring.

Also thanks to Lonnie for chatting with me for a bit.

I'll post some pics later this week.

I'll see if i can get some pics up tonight. I had fun as always, it's nice to meet new folks. I'd like to personally thank a few members.

Outlander, for putting on a great show/event, for digging into his pocket to provide a great hall and refreshments. He and Vito (Hicks on the board, who couldn't make it) footed a huge bill, for which those who paid the $5.00 donation, doesn't even start to cover it. And the great "Golden Ticket" that they had printed up for everyone to take home. Oh, and those damned nasty jelly beans. That sradine flavor is still hanging with me.

Tripoli, for letting all of the children play with about $1000.00 worth of MR sabers, his mock battles, and the safety and twirling tutorial that he gave them. My daughter and nephew loved it.

Juno, for being quite patient with Logan and Kainn, for giving them attention, coins, personalized letters to Hogwarts, and there favorite's, the sorcerers stone. Logan doesn't go anywhere without it and her coin.

I was having a heart attack every so often, the kids would run around, near prop display's, wanting to play with everything. It was crazy. I apologize to anyone who's props they fondled without permission, but thank you for your patients.

And congratulations to Lonnie on his new addition to the family.

Hey, you saw MoffEaton's pics -- even grown men couldn't keep themselves from playing with everything :p

I though Logan and Kainn (and Michael, and the others.) were really well behaved. I really enjoyed all the kids.

It was a nice party. People kept coming in in the afternoon and we had quite a crowd there. Michael enjoyed the show as well. He handed out the Gringotts coins from his own collection in trade for dads screen used ones. :) Kids had a ball on the lightsabers, only on LED got damaged in the battles, not bad considering how many went swinging out there. Handed out plenty of Lex Luthor campaign buttons, sponsored by outlander. Be tween Outlanders display and whats going on in Cleveland, made me want to look for those pumpkin bombs again. Miker loved the HP display Mr Simon had as well, not only are the props great, people are getting more creative with the displays as well.
The different tables of porps were great. Loved the remote R2 unit, heard several times many collectors saying thats what they wished to add to their collection. Static costume displays were incredible, great mix of different franchises out there. Michael loved the Juno HP table, have to order a few more items from her soon. Got to spend a bit of time talking to several members and it was nice to catch up and enjoy talking about props. Have quite a few pictures but they are a bit large in memory, if someone want to host em, just pm me with a e-mail and I will flood your box with them. :)

I showed up a little late, but still had a good time. There were some realy nice props and the company was great as always. A big thank you to Outlander and any others for putting on a great event.

I also wanted to pass along a Thank You, from Michael (Ripcode on TDH), for the good time that he and his wife had. Here is link to his thead on TDH, which has his thank you in his own words and some pictures that he took.

Jeff, I usually use Pilot's pic hosting. It's easy to use, and pics can be up to 2MB.

Thanks to Pilot for the pic hosting.. :)

Even though this was the smallest turnout we've had out of the 4 years we've done these, it was still a lot of fun, and great to meet even more people who had never been to one of the previous ones. I just felt bad for the guys who came from Maryland and Kansas, since it wasn't as big as the last few years have been.

Moffeaton, great meeting you. Heard many great words about you from Jordan in the past. :)

Here's some of my pics. I tried to post some that maybe hadn't been shown yet....starting off with some Tusken masks I've built:

I found out Tripoli worked as a propster on the Smallville TV show a while back, and some of the props he brought were replicas of the ones made for the show. He said sometimes the actors would request copies of the pieces to use for charity events and the like. Coolness.

Besides the drill / Aliens tracker in another post, these are some more of the real same parts that some of the Colonial Marine armor parts were based off of.

There was quite a large amount of Harry Potter props this year, including these:

The interior of the Riddel TIE helmet. One of 6 in existance. Met a guy who was there with lonepigeon who worked on the design of all the Riddel mini-helmets. Nice guy, with a couple photo albums of pictures he took himself of various helmets inside the Lucasfilm Archieves. Stuff you'll never see anywhere. It was an honor just to see the photos. :thumbsup

Looking forward to next year's already..... :)

Mr. Fett:

It was great seeing you again, and thanks for posting the great photos that you took. Maybe the wonderful weather outside had something to do with the reduced turnout. I was disappointed after the great turnout we had last year and I was hoping that we would get even bigger this year. Ah well, at least I got to meet a lot of new people who hadn't come before.

Cool. I don't suppose you have more shots of the mini helmets? I would also like to see the small vader and 3po heads.

It sucks living in the UK, we don't have anything like this. :(

Paul

It was great seeing everyone... new faces and familier ones alike. I still need to get my photos off my camera.

Okay... who was that I talked to that said they could get me screen shots of the Fifth Element stones? :$ :D

The one with the mini helmets was Chris Reiff (seen behind IG-88 head in photo). He's also the cofounder of Parts of Star Wars.
The Vader and 3PO heads were 1/4 scale versions of the Riddell mini helmets. They were an experiment for expanding the product line.

Nice pix. Looks like there was lot to see...I'd love to make it down for the next one. Did any Canucks attend?

I was there from Windsor with my R2. Not sure if there were any others.

Phil worked really hard on making the special tickets for the party and raffle. I was hoping someone would have mentioned them, but no such luck. Did anybody take a picture that they can post? I'd like the board at large to see what a fantastic job he did.
