Greetings RPF members, I'm hoping to tap the vast collective knowledge of the community here. All of us in this community of crafters are creative problem solvers I'm sure there is solid advice to be had!
Anyone have experience wrapping armor/props with metallic foil? What are the various options, does anyone have any regular practices, materials, procedures, they could recommend? I want the finished effect to look like a reflective mirror finish (ultimately in tones of silver and gold). I will be wrapping a suit of EVA armor which is full of complex curves.
Some of the options I'm researching include:
"Heat activated transfer foil" (the type typically used in textile printing, typically for t-shirt printing) which uses a tacky glue and heat to transfer foil particles from mylar sheets to the object. example www.advancedscreenprintsupply.com/product2302.html
Another similar product is Mylar backed transfer foil used in scrap-booking as demonstrated here: http://www.crafttestdummies.com/six-ways-add-foil-crafting-projects-without-machine/
Yet another is the vinyl film used to wrap cars. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271598616182?rmvSB=true
Any recommendations, suggestions, experience or insight would be appreciated!
