MGS3 was by far the best in both story & game play.
I did enjoy MGS4 but it was far too much movie and not a lot of game. Agreed though, it was overly melodramatic.
The soundtrack is great though!

I think part of why 4 was so melodramatic was it was the creator's way of ending the era of Snake and he let his attachment get in the way but now he's decided that if someone impresses him enough he will allow Solid Snake to appear in other Metal Gear stories. Be nice to have someone remake the original 2 games into MGS prequels.
I think the creator of the series would have loved to get a chance for Russel to play Snake since he was part of the inspiration.

I want more Big Boss! Give us some Big Boss games. 
Oh I think we have way more Big Boss to come, you have the entire cold war leading up to when Solid Snake gets out of special forces and becomes Foxhound. I just want more David Hayter's voice acting lol. I have the PSP games and they're okay but Metal Gear solid isn't exactly aimed at handhelds control wise. Rumor has it Solid Snake is going to appear in the new Metal Gear game in January. I even started a short story that picks up after the 4th game ends and everyone thinks he's dying.
At the very least it allows you to move away from those characters. They jumped the shark with Otocon with the whole "mother" thing...
lol Yeah Otocon's family had some serious issues even going back before he was born. Man when does Ground Zeroes come out? It's probably for the new generation systems. I hope they get the original cast back for reoccurring characters, that can kill a franchise if you do replacements. Hayter shouldn't be an issue as he even did Snake's voice on Smash brothers Brawl.:lol

You start to lose me on that list at Otacon. Adrien Brody totally has the wrong vibe...
The Rock might not be bad, but I think for Raven you might do better with an unknown. Uma is a little too much for Sniper Wolf and Milla, although hot, I think is wrong for Meryl.
All that said I don't really have replacements for you. :lol

I agree w/a lot of this. Adrien Brody has the look, but agree w/the wrong vibe. But also, I cannot think of anyone better. I do think the Rock would be a very good Raven though. I was just watching "Fast Five" last night, and he is jacked even more than normal I feel in that movie. I think he has the right look and feel for Raven. But as you said not over the top. Just very calm, reserved Rock.
Meryl for me would have to be younger. Someone like the one girl from Twilight. Ashely Greene I believe is her name. I've never seen Twilight, but she is in a new horror film coming out, and I believe she has the look and younger feel of a Meryl.
Sniper wolf, I am stuck on. Marion Cotillard seems to be a foreign girl of the moment. Maybe....
I love the Karl Urban as Grey Fox suggestion. He is very under appreciated IMO. Maybe a little too big/large for him though.
I do not like Tom Hiddleston as Mantis. He is a great actor. Probably my favorite part of Thor. But I don't see him playing that role properly. I guy I would like to see as Mantis is Rorshach, Jackie Earle Haley. I think he would make a really great Mantis. Not even for the look, but that helps. He could play that man on the edge of crazy but calm, very well. Smart, but insane.

I think he wouldn't even try. He would "Take his own spin on the character". He would be close. I would hope that he doesn't add too much emotion to his voice. Keep that somewhat monotone-ness to it like Snake.
As long as he doesn't let the Australian accent through. That would ruin the character for me I think! :lol

I would also very much expect Daniel Craig as Liquid Snake.
That wouldn't be a bad casting.
For me it's David Hayter or nobody. He's been the voice of Snake for 15 years now in every metal gear game and is who the fans want. His scripts have been rejected which has really put fans of the franchise off things. Kojima'll keep tight control over this as he overseas anything metal gear even as a produce but still. I'm worried it'll look like Bayformers and lose all that is the heart of the games.
Sadly with our luck they'll use Raiden and his kungfu dancing as the movie to tie it into the new branch of the franchise. Honestly i'd rather see a CGI movie starring Bigboss and Snake that retell the original 2 games.

Ya, but he was suggesting Craig for Liquid.
I think there are others who could do Snake but I'd miss that voice.
