Men in Black 3- 2012 Standard Issue (CANCELED)

Hey SAT, I saw that there were two versions of the standard issue made for the film, this one you have made the replica of, and an almost identical version that had and added handle on the hilt. Have you guys thought about making a replica of both versions?

My friend tried calling them twice, once last week and once today. Both times they gave him the run around and some of their CS staff don't even know the item is available. Maybe he'll drop in and tell the story.

Yikes! Not a good sign... Sure am glad I never pre-ordered. Hoping for the best.. preparing for the worst... :rolleyes

If you are new to prop collecting, it might be worth your time to dig up a geezer and hear the ICONS replicas tale.

Well, this is different though, SAT is one of the largest providers for original film props. Their problem may be in transitioning from manufacturing originals to manufacturing replicas (two very different disciplines). If you are not prepared for the challenges of producing a large quantity of product with possible QC issues all over the place you might find yourself behind schedule and out of your depths.

Basically, I'm the friend he's referring to. As of today, I've called them 5 times over the last three weeks. Every time I call to get any information regarding the order, I get transferred 2-3 times, before either "Donna," or "Emma" picks up to tell me that "John" (who I guess is in charge of the run) is with a "customer," and is unable to come to the phone. Every time they ask me for both my phone number and my email, so that he may contact me. I still have yet to hear anything from him... I've already expressed to both "Donna," and "Emma," that it is very important that I speak to him before this coming Friday, Nov. 30th. I plan on trying again later today, and I will post with any new information that I might get.

Quick update for y'all. I just got off the phone with them. Once again, I ended up speaking with "Emma" I believe, and she explained to me that she had spoken with "John," and that he did not have any information regarding the shipping of the 2012 Standard Issue. She then said though, that I could get a refund on my deposit if I wanted. For obvious reasons, I jumped at that chance. Hopefully, they get their act together, and that everything works out well for everyone who has ordered a piece.

Aaand the cookie crumbles... Glad you were able to easily get your deposit back though :thumbsup

No news at ALL sat? ...really?

I mean, I have no doubt that it'll be an excellent piece when it comes out. It looks beautiful, and honestly I still would like one. That being said however, SAT needs to set up a better customer service network. For me, it is simply a deal breaker when a business cannot provide a decent level of consumer relations. Set backs happen, I understand that. As a business though, SAT needs to realize that keeping the customer in the loop regardless of the product's status should be a priority. It's a trust issue, and unfortunately, mine has been lost. Now that I'm done ranting, I do honestly wish all them at SAT the best with their endeavors, and I hope everything works out. I do not want to see any business or anyone fail.

I wonder if they decided to focus on making props for movies and tv shows and forgotten about this? Maybe that's why the customer service knows nothing about this, and they gave bogeyphobia99 the run-around. Maybe they needed money to fund/promote their latest endeavor.

Well my "fear" has always been since they are a large and "reputable" company that manufactures originals for blockbuster films... and must make significantly more money doing that than they ever would replicas, that they never really cared for making good replicas for the consumer, but rather just viewed it as a quick and easy way to make an extra buck since they do in fact make the originals: We own the designs.. we made them... why not make the replicas ourselves instead of having another company do them.. more money for us! I feared this from the fact they didn't seem to have any interest at all or make any effort in adding lights, sounds and things of that nature that add to the prop but rather just to have a manufacturer mass produce it and sell it as is. Maybe this wasn't as easy as they thought or as profitable as they thought and they just keep pushing it down the list since naturally making original props for movies is far more important.

Anyways, I really hope this is not the case.. and we are just jumping the gun, and they have an excellent product that is almost finished.. or coming along nicely.. Even though it's just hope at this point since there really has been zero communication for that past nearly 6 months and counting.. since the time SAT said "I will be posting some info about the Layaway plan shortly. " back in June. And the fact is when I called 6 months ago, the only person that seemed to have a clue about it the standard issue even being produced was John, and now hearing from other RPFers, that the only person still today that has any clue about the standard issue being produced is still just John... It's not looking very hopeful.

Nevertheless, I still REALLY want one if it is produced and I still REALLY want the shotgun.. And I am still willing to wait patiently for it to be produced.. Like I said before I don't mind delays as long as they are warranted and with good cause (Maybe this means they will be adding sounds??). However not so patient with the complete absence of communication.

Then again who knows, maybe there is some kind of legal dispute going on behind the scenes that is delaying the MIB props.

So, what have I missed?

Nothing, and that's the sad part. The last post that Studio Art and Technology made was back in June, regarding how they're going to post "info about the layaway plan shortly". Their website has yet to reflect any layaway plan.

Maybe someone can try to send a private message to their account here and see if they respond, not sure if anyone tried it yet but seems like calling isn't helping, so maybe a PM or email might help. I don't have the money to get the Standard Issue, my main concern is the 2012 Neuralyzer, all I'm asking for is a few pics and it's been months and we've heard absolutely nothing.
