Thanks for all the help everyone. I will still take any reference photos if people have them, every little bit helps. I will try to get the helmet finished this weekend, and/or possibly start on the chest armor

Forearms have been unfolded by Supermangt94. I've also edited his original unfold by splitting the model in half and added more support at the elbow end. This should make it sturdier and easier to glass. I have put both up in the 1st post if.

I was searching through my papercraft folder and found that there is already a helmet created.

Honestly, I think Blender is probably just as good, if not better because it is free. I am a UF student so I get a 13 month trial of max for free, which is the only reason im using it.

Thanks for the link. I've already started modeling a helmet from scratch so ill prolly just keep going with that one. Im gonna try to get enough polys in there so that the helmet can be filled and sanded smooth and round. I'll try to work on this more this weekend and get the helmet finished.

Just finished the Helmet, so now it needs to be unfolded. If anyone unfolds just send it to me in a pm and I can add it to the first post. I have added braces to the openings to keep its shape while it is being glassed.

Download link will be added to the first post. Let me know what you guys think. Keep in mind that this is my interpretation of X and not really based off a specific version of him, so some things might not be the same as what you remember from the game or pictures.

I have tried to keep the original dimensions of the helmet for shape but I have had to stretch it to fit a human head. I used my own head as a model for sizing and I hope that it is proportioned to fit most everyone

My head size is 6.25" width, and 8.1" length, my perimeter hat size is 23"-24". That is what I have the pep file scaled to at this moment. I am not sure how anyone would go about figuring out a scale for their own head so if anyone finds out a good way please let everyone else know.

Looks good so far and you have my sympathy for having to use 3D max. It was the bane of my existence in art school since its the only program they'd let you really near in the computer animation major. Softimage and others were for the elite students. It crashed so much it wasn't funny.

It is a slow day at work so I was able to unfold the helmet myself. I kept it to 8 pages with easy to work pieces. It is on Letter size paper, it will fit as is on A4 but you may have to move some pieces.

Any guinea pigs up for a build?

Bad ass. I never really got into all the megaman x's but I loved8 and megaman legends and misadventures of tron bon. Later tonight I might give the build a try but support struts might be needed

They are in there, I have added pictures of them to the first post along with the download links. They should hold the shape until the first coat of resin is added.

OMG yes i will make the helmet and anything else you make. i've been putting together a costume for this so you are my hero.....i have no modeling experiance and dont know where to start (tried and kinda failed). if you want a crapy model to kinda modify for some peices there is one here:

Also i will help with anything needed. i know how to use pepakura but i cant really model so i could try my hand at some unfolding.....that way i dont feel like a theif

Glad to hear that you all are liking it so far. I plan to build this for myself for halloween, since dragoncon will be too soon for me to get the build finished.

I'll try and get the models finished before the end of august in case anyone else is building this for dragoncon.

I'll start building the pep as soon as my ironman helmet is closer to finished. I'll get some pictures of the build up as soon as I start it but I would love to see other peoples progress if they get it finished before I do.

Does anyone see any improvements that could be made? I'm working on the chest piece currently.

Looks good so far, as far as any improvements aron, just know you are off to a stellar start, the only thing missing from your helmet is the 'lip' around it:

Oh and if you need, I can test pep the chest or any other parts you model/unfold.
