Is it just me, or does the webbing look like stitches?
The web, and maybe even the spider, could be some sort of embroydery?
I agree, some parts look pretty smooth, but some parts sort of look like stitches in the high res photos. Like little gaps in the web line. I noticed it mainly in these areas, among others:I don't think so... It looks too neat and smooth to be stitching. I might try screen printing for mine

It looks like the straight lines are shallow indentations bordered by a black line on each side. And the bowed lines are a single line in an indentation.
Pretty sure the "indentations" are just an optical illusion caused by the gaps between the black lines not being textured.
Awesome design! I can't wait to see someone try this out.Looking at the his eyes closely, i drew up how his eyes seem to work.View attachment 602064
I might end up trying a proof a concept later this weekend, because it just looks so cool!Awesome design! I can't wait to see someone try this out.

The area between the vertical webs definitely looks indented, but I'm not so sure about the vertical webbing. Just basing it off of the way it reflects in the sun on the side of his face. The suit webbing is definitely indented. Think basketball.
You would have to go about using small arms to move each blade as a traditional iris design would be problematic due to there being no circle to rotate around
size would also be an issue for the mechanism to drive the blades to open and close as the iris itself can be super thin due to the materials used
The only way I can see this working in an actual costume is by making the mask have some sort of small space between the users face and the mask itself. If there is a small space between the face and the mask it would mean that the blades would have more room to move without ruining the look and be able to accommodate for a drive mechanism to open and close the blades of the iris.
