Mattel Ghost Trap?

if they made a pack, i think they would make everyone's heads explode scanner's style. seriously, that's like the trinity of GB props right?

I think if you get the dixi cup holders, that should work fine. You may have to altar or add a plate to the bottom side first. At the very least I would open up the unit to see if you're gonna hit any electronics first.

Oh, I wouldn't reccomend holding this by the cable like in the movie. The cable is only pressure fit into the trap and pedal slots.

Thanks for the tips. It so happens that I have the dixie holder right now... I will just see how this pans out... definitely dont want to hit the electronics and I dont want to have it prevent the movement on the floor.

I'd be doubtful on a Pack to, if it weren't them themselves asking if there was interest. Admit it, if they did bring it out, would you buy one?

Considering how fast their first two replica offerings sold out, I don't see how they could NOT seriously be considering producing a pack replica.

A lot of the doubt is drawn from costing, likely end result, and the failed endeavours of Master Replicas.

Without a doubt, the Trap and PKE Meter have been pretty reasonable priced, $60 for the PKE and $130 for the Trap... but I'm not so easily convinced that a Proton Pack without be south of $300.

Then there's the end result, the PKE (despite a few minor visual elements) was almost flawless... the Trap in comparison is rather plasticy in appearance, has made some mistakes with the size and orientation of the labels... and some large compromises for mass production and to keep it cost effective. The end result is still good, but not as good as that of the PKE.

Based on the comrpromises of the Trap, I feel a Proton Pack would look a lot worse. And then there's the Master Replicas angle. When they were planning on building one, they'd posted that it was not going to be wearable because Rubies had the rights to a wearable Proton Pack... chances are they could still have that option, and given that the Mattel Trap wasn't designed with belt wearing in mind, I could easily see any Proton Pack effort being unwearable.

I don't think we'll ever see a Proton Pack replica from Mattel, especially with them likely ending the figure line next year.

If we were, we'd likely see a Pack that took too many compromises in appearance, and probably couldn't even be worn... ending in a result that wouldn't be worth the price tag.

I would, however, definitely be in for a Giga Meter, or some Ecto Goggles.

The PKE meter replica is a good replica because the original prop was plastic too. The Trap had metal parts, so having all plastic trap is less accurate. If they made metal parts for the trap that'd have definately made it more expensive. From what I see though I'll be very happy with the all plastic version, maybe with an upgrade or two.

Master replicas was also planning on making their so that it could be modified to be wearable (the rubies license only specifies the category of costumes not any specific item). A pack made of plastic would be easy to attach to a frame. Would take a few minutes and it would be wearable.

Ultimately, for a mostly hollow piece with mostly molded parts, the pack WOULDN'T actually be very difficult at all.

Plus, I don't think there is any real word on Mattel canceling the figure line. This is all conjecture at this point. They probably would not have started the line of prop replicas without researching the market, mass producibility, or even design mockups.

Just saying, everyone seems to be calling this one too soon and by next year we'll all be scrambling for a pack.

I can't believe since yesterday I'm the only one who got his traps.

Naw, I got mine; I just didn't announce it.

checked another video... Is the door opening noise really so annoying?!?

It seems to be very loud, and the sound effects sound very monoton... Is it just because of the low-quality videos or does it sound really like this?!?

Same here, wondering if it is just sitting on a dock somewhere waiting for pickup.
