Master Replicas losing the Trek License?

I just read on the MR forum that Dec. 31 they are set to lose the Trek license if they do not re-negotiate for it.

With Star Wars gone I was hoping for Trek to get a little more luvin from Mr.

I hope that still happens but if not as, others have surmised, MR will be a former shell of it self and that is a shame

thats a shame, but they really havent done ANYTHING with the license over the years... think of all the phasers and trinkets they could have worked on... i would have loved to see a licensed assault rifle from first contact =(

Guess this is the fruit of the Corgi / MR merger and it's starting to look/smell kinda rotten.

Course the way the Trek franchise has been going in recent years, I'd drop it like a sack of potatoes too.

Come on, they did the phaser, tric, Com, SS Enterprise, What more do you want? How much more could they sell? A trible? SS Bird of Prey? Spock ears?

I really can't say anything but I have seen upcoming MR Star Trek prototypes and with the stuff they plan to produce, it seems very unlikely that they will lose the license...:love

I think they also said that with the new Trek film coming next year, Paramount/CBS is wanting a lot more money this time around...

I was just thinking that with the new Trek film coming out that the licensing fees were going up. Its too bad if MR loses Trek as well, they've lost SW and their Marvel license is really in a lull....not sure what they'll have at this point.

Irrelevant, We saw how Corgi/MR handled Lucasfilm wanting more Money for the license with MR having Prototypes in the pipeline, they will let it run out.

As noted above, Paramount/CBS probably wants more money for the renewal and I fear MR will let the license expire as they will with Star Wars.

If they lose both licenses It is indeed the beginning of the end for MR

Seems to me they are just going more Sideshow like, with more figures and these scene things. I have zero interest in that stuff but lots of folks do. Probably a smart move for Corgi/MR.

There was a time when MR losing the Trek license would have really upset me. Not anymore.

Back in the early days of MR I picked up a number of their props, Star Wars, Trek, Alien, MIB... I enjoy those pieces quite a bit. However, the company has really changed in the last couple of years. Fewer and fewer props, studio scale models that aren't actually studio scale and more and more novelty type items. Like micdavis said "I have zero interest" in scene things.

The Trek license has been virtually abandoned the last couple of years as well. When was the last Trek prop piece they released? We've been waiting for the assault phaser and Mark X tricorder for well over a year now. Do they even care about producing these pieces?

Frankly, I'm amazed they kept the license this long.

I would think they would want to capitalize on the interest Trek will be getting with the new movie coming out, insted of letting it slide.

You would think the money they would save by not renewing the SW lisence would go toward keeping the Trek lisence (or vice versa)

I'm not a Trek fan (and not interested in the props) but what does that leave MR with, Disney? Nothing really new in the Pirates arena, and how long can they stay with doing Donald Duck maquettes and Muppets?

If they loose this license I think it will be the last nail in the coffin, as well as a huge disappointment to me! :cry

The Studio Scale USS Enterprise was released earlier this year.

Let's be honest... It's not studio scale. It's a model of the studio scale model. The original filming miniature was bigger than a kitchen table. It's also not a true representaion of the smaller 3ft model. Now don't get me wrong. It nice but it's not really studio scale.

and... once again, no props in something like two years.
