Master Replicas losing the Trek License?

Come on, they did the phaser, tric, Com, SS Enterprise, What more do you want? How much more could they sell? A trible? SS Bird of Prey? Spock ears?

The Trek items are in no way close to exhausted in sales. The MR TOS phasers alone sell for 4x original cost on eBay because there is way more demand than items available. And there are plenty of Trek items that would sell like hotcakes if MR would get to making them (Cage Laser, Assault Phaser, WOK Phaser, Klingon SS Model, etc.)

Thankfully there are talented people on this board that have continued the supply of Trek items. But those runs tend to be pretty small and many people miss the short run time they are available.

There are a ton of items they could have produced, had they bothered to. A variety of Phasers, Tricorders, Communicators, PADDS, etc.

Not to mention ships. USS Enterprise A, B, D, E, Voyager, yadda yadda yadda.

I, personally, would be all over an "Away Team" kit, a replica box containing season specific Tric, Phaser, Comm Badge and hand held lamp. I know it's not going to happen, but I think it'd be a cool concept.

What exactly is MR's business plan? Lose some of thier most important licenses and then... ? I don't see how any of these things could be good for the company.

With the loss of SW, and apparently now ST, there doesn't seem to be any "replicas" left in Master Replicas, the company. Maybe that's why it's now just "Corgi".

Any word if anyone's picking up Trek, such as QMX? I still want a ratcheting Cage laser with lights/sound. Might have to get an HMS build on that one.

Thank goodness JLong's doing his part to add to the quality Trek items.

Here is a quote from Bill over at Plasma Infusion he posted over at the TPZ regarding this issue:

"Hey guys,

This is NOT TRUE, MR has the Trek License till at least the end of 09'. They put Trek on hold after the decision was made to drop the Star Wars License sometime around May/June this year. They figured they'd put all their resources into "milking" that cash cow for all it's worth.

Expect an On Sale Announcement before the holidays from MR for the two items previewed last Toy Fair, the Next Gen Tricorder & the Phaser.

Hope this clears up any rumors"!

Ummm...the 'holiday' of THIS year? How much closer to "the holidays" do they want to get? IT'S FREAKING THANKSGIVING!

Usually "the Holidays" means Hanukkah and Christmas.

I know but Christmas is just a tad over a month. We still have to purchase the items and (presumably) get said items by Christmas. Isn't that tough to do in about 33 days when it's not even on sale yet?

Point taken but I just wanted to clarify that Thanksgiving isn't part of "the holidays" so they still have a little while left. Technically speaking. :)

These are Trek items, not SW, right? so why do they have to get new stuff done by
the holidays? assuming they have the license through 2009. They can announce the Next Gen items before the holidays and then ship next year.
