Master replicas Enterprise electrical connection problem

originally I thought there was a short in the cord.
But I have noticed that there is a bit of play/ wiggle room on the barrel connector going into the base.

I see the underside of the base has a cover under the electrical jack. but it isnt removable. looks like it is glued in place. so i cant get in there to look around.

I am wondering if any others have experienced this and what solutions they came up with .
thanks

Hey icemanfredtm,

Sometimes an open circuit (loose connection) loss of power can be attributed to several things.
Since I do not own one of these maybe I can give you some ideas as to things to look for.
I went to youtube to see if I could see the connection you are talking about and this is all I could find among
several videos I watched:

There looks to be several things that can effect the power from getting to the ship.
When you move certain parts of the model, does it seem that there are areas that effect the power loss more then others?
Does the ship plug into the pole with a quick disconnect of some kind?
When you hold the power adapter plug into the base as steady as you can and move just the cord, does that effect power loss?
Does the power switch still feel reliable and turn power on and off well?

If you think it is the female part of the plug (in the base) being loose, then it could be a poor solder joint (cold solder).
Some times if the plug body is not secured well to the board, then the copper trace could also be torn.
If you think this is the case, then it will have to be re-soldered and the plug made secure.
