Mass Effect: Hahne Kedar Armor and Suppressor

So the day after Memorial Day 2014, My brother-in-law asked me to improve on his Mass Effect Commander Shepard costume before he went to the San Japan convention on July 17th. All he had was a basic, Casual Attire, Shepard, consisting of Jeans, a grey shirt, a fake leather N7 jacket and a NERF Maverick painted black.

What he wanted was a set of armor, but not the normal N7 armor. He wanted the Hahne Kedar armor set. once I looked at some pictures to refresh my memory as to which set that was, I thought... sure I'll try.

At the time of his request the most I had ever done in the realm of cosplay design was, I made the claw for his Street Fighter Vega costume for last years San Japan convention. other than that... not really anything beyond Nerf gun painting.

I realized this was a bold undertaking... To try to complete a full set of armor (which I had never done) and to do it in 51 days. So I took to Youtube and the RPF to start learning. The following pictures are the very few Work in Progress pictures I took, and the final product, on him, taken yesterday (July 12, 2014 (5 days ahead of schedule)).

Armor:
Multi Colored EVA foam floor tiles
A few fender washers for detail
5 coats of Elmer's glue
Plasti-Dip - 5 cans
Krylon Fusion paints
Rustolem clear coat
Velcro
1" and 2" Nylon Strapping
1" and 2" Elastic

Gun:
Nerf Maverick (heavily modified and no longer functional)
EVA foam (as well as coatings listed above)
Bondo

The Suppressor is not exactly accurate, but it is a close approximation.

Ha! That's not a suit I've seen made before, love it! Looks excelent, especially considering you used foam. Very clean lines.

Thank you both, If I had closer pictures of the bracers you could see the difference in the lines, the right was cut into multiple pieces and glued together, when I did the left I learned how to successfully back cut the foam. looks much cleaner on the left. Fortunately the Red and White stripes on the right take your eye away from the poor seams.

Always nice to see branching out from the standard N7! I've got a set of Terminus armor I've just completed, hoping to get the funds to show it off at DragonCon. Awesome build, really great job! :D
