Marvin the Martian Helmet

I'm working on a Marvin the Martian costume but am having a hard time figuring out how to shape the helmet. I was going to use the dome piece of the ever popular WOF Boba Fett helmet template over at The Dented Helmet, but I think Marvin's is much more spherical than that.

Anyone know of any templates? Or any ideas for something I could otherwise buy and use in construction? I have two large sheets of Sintra I could use given a good template.

BTW...thanks to BAK55 and Ramsbottom for that thread on Marvin's raygun!

I've got a paper model that looks pretty good. PM me with your email addy and I'll send it to you.

YES! I want to see this!
Marvin is one of my all-time favorate Looney Tunes characters growing up! I always wanted a 1:1 Marvin statue/figure - maybe a side project once you do your helmet??:love

The main piece is pretty much a half sphere with the mandible pieces extending off of the outward curved extension on the bottom. I work in animation and know how to translate him into a sculpture.

Not sure what to recommend as far as a life size base for the dome though.

Anyone have any experience with fiberglassing? In looking for materials to build the head I came across one of those spherical paper lanterns in Ikea. Is it possible to use fiberglass spray to stiffen it up and use it for Marvin's head? I'm not sure how heavy this will make it or if the thin paper will hold up w/o tearing.

I also bought some bondo to use in constructing his shoes but am also unsure as to how heavy this will be. So far I've taped a pair of old sneakers to larger cardboard shoe cutouts and am now fabricating a wire frame out of window screening for each shoe, just bondo-ing the surface (so it will be hollow).

I'm still debating the best way to make the helmet - ARGH!!!
