Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I keep getting these flashbacks to "Buffy" every time I watch this now. I'm afraid the whole Skye/WARD feels like a retread of the Buffy/ Angel relationship. Ward and Skye annoyed me from the off, but I couldn't really pin it down as to why until I had a sudden "lightbulb" moment watching them last week. Now I just can't shake it, they look so alike.
personally, I hope the series doesn't get a second run, as much as the cast has improved, the whole SHIELD thing feels done after "The Winter Soldier". I'll be interested to see if they keep it going purely from a marketing point of view, there's no doubt from that POV its been a great success that might be immitated for SW.

Ok a couple of questions.

First was it really Ward who shot the dog? We saw him shoot the pistol in the air making the dog run but it did not look like he was carrying a rifle. So perhaps this is just a bit of misdirection since he did not kill Fitz/Simmons he just dumped them in what will probably turn out to be an airtight container that floats until the others pick them up.

Second from seeing the preview for next week at the end of the show, who thinks that Fury will make an appearance?

The last couple of episodes have been great.

Laters,
Jeff

Ward didn't shoot the dog, which was a parallel to him letting Fitz/Simmons go. And we've known for several weeks that Fury would appear in the finale

Agree on all points. From looks of last nights show, Ward will eventually redeem himself in some way :thumbsdown.

Keep Ward villain.

If Ward sticks around past this season it better be as a villain.

Anybody else expect the gravitonium to make a last appearance this season in the finale?

I also like how Quinn mentions to the military that with SHIELD gone they need someone to take the place. Echoes of something Tony Stark would say, so I'm thinking with the military thinking that, Stark Industries being involved because of Hill, and a few other things, that such a private security force is exactly where things are going to go, and it just so happens that Coulson's team is part of it. They'd technically be called something different, but under the guidance/influence of Hill (and to a degree, Fury), they'd still at heart be SHIELD, or at least SHIELD 2.0.

Oh, man. That is a brilliant observation in the most scary way. O_O

I hope that's not how things turn out with them. I really, REALLY hope that's not the road they're heading down...

I'd like to see them explain to Tony Stark and the other Avengers how Coulson is alive.

I really like this show but watching it right now they shot the rope anchor into an acoustical ceiling tile ! Come on !

Grant used his real name throughout...so...SHIELD accepts pyromaniac attempted murderers who escape from juvenile facilities into their Special Ops program? No wonder they were being run by, and completely infiltrated by Hydra. Their security vetting is terrible.

I doubt it would take much work for HYDRA to make a five year old case disappear, especially since it never made it to trial.

Russian assassin that was once on your radar as someone to eliminate is perfectly ok, but you choose to have an issue with how ward got into shield.

When an agency does a background check, they send an investigator to talk to your family, friends and co-workers. I guess Hydra got to all of them too...or Hydra had a person inside the vetting agency that assigned the case to another Hydra agent. Either way my original point stands,SHIELD's security vetting stinks.

I hear you but they knew her history and took a calculated risk because of her skills. Ward was just a raw recruit. Those are a dime a dozen

Never mind, I just have to hit the "I believe" button and swallow weak writing with little attention to detail. I do like the show it's just little things like that bug me.

P.S. I have no issues with the fact that the actress who plays the KGB assassin Romanov in the movies, was 5 years old when the Berlin Wall came down.

Honestly, I would think that Coulson revealing to Stark he's alive would be the very reason he [Stark] would support them. If Fury were to ask, he'd flip him the bird with an appropriate quip. If Hill were to, he'd tell her to consider another place of work. But if Coulson were to come clean to him and ask for his help, I believe that Stark would step up and do it. Especially once he learns what Coulson had to go through to be brought back. If after all that, being a part of SHIELD is still important to the man, Stark would see the value in having the organization around as a privatized security force so long as Coulson was involved.

Just my two cents, anyway.

Nah, they just had to make sure the investigator was Hydra. They wouldn't even have to go looking for the family - just write up the interview any way they want it.

I'd like to go back and watch the pilot again, specifically the scene where Coulson shoots Ward with the truth serum so that Skye could get answers from him. Some of his answers could be interesting in retrospect if it really did work, and wasn't just a placebo like Ward suggested later.

He did, they show the rifle scope again as it ran and a shot. And he didn't let them go, he believed he was sending them to their deaths by drowinging.

That's fine but most buildings have hvac equipment above ceilings that leaves big gaps of nothing ! Just a pick , sometimes have trouble letting go during shows and movies
