Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

so, i have a theory: coulson was never alive to begin with. hes some sort of cyborg/something and was just reactivated. that way he can still have his memories, and they can add memories to his hdd. that would explain the "its a magical place" thing

So far, Coulson is the ONLY even remotely likable character.

Skye... why is this character here? What purpose does she serve? Ugh. So annoyingly written.

Speaking of... just a bit too many cookie cutter tough-girl types for my taste. As is so often the case, written in a way that overcompensates so poorly in an effort to show "equality."

Also, I feel like this show is exposition, exposition, exposition. Reminds me of those old shows where you hear one end of the phone call and the actor repeats every single line of the person on the other end. You would think someone would eventually say "stop telling me things I already know.

Heh heh... I did like when they asked "who do you think designed your weaponry?" Well duh. Stormleader, right here on the RPF. That is who!

I did like the cameo. Hope they do more of that!! Here is to hoping this gets better.

I'm not sure if it was here or on reddit, but I'm beginning to think whoever said "Tahiti" was actually Valhalla/Asgaard was right. Coulson's mortal blow was dealt in noble battle (with a god, no less) and with weapon in hand.

Decent episode. I'm still pretty impressed with the production value and pretty underwhelmed with the writing/acting/casting. Like Art said: Exposition, exposition, exposition. Don't tell me that they're becoming a team, just show me. It was definitely an improvement over the pilot, but the beats of the episode are pretty plainly telegraphed when they aren't just silly (in a bad way). My eyes nearly rolled out of my head when the comandante turned out to be a beautiful woman with next to no discernible muscle tone and a sexual fever for which the prescription appears to be "more Coulson". Surely she must be on the up-and-up. I might have shrugged and let it go if her femme fatale shtick had gotten her anywhere with him. But it didn't. And then there's the lightweight, steel-strength polymer that S.H.I.E.L.D. has developed and apparently decided to roll out on a line of super-strong life rafts. Really sloppy stuff.

The "after credits" bit gave me a chuckle. I think it might have been a bad precedent to set in episode 2, but it cleansed the palate a little bit after that cartoony resolution. As critical as I'm being, though, I'll take any improvement over none.

got round to watching the 1st episode last night and well.. it was terrible.

the flying car was the icing on a cheese filled cake.

i'll give the next one a go but man, it needs to drastically improve.

the funny thing was i thought the 2 scientists accents were so bad i looked up the actors and found out they were actually scottish and english.. turns out it was just their hammy acting that was the problem.

so far, not impressed but as said.. will give the next one a go

Ok, I see it now.

It's very literally a live action comic book. The way they frame the shots especially.

I like that idea a lot! It's a magical place!

Right now I'm only liking Coulson. I have NO interest in any of the other characters. Fortunately Clark is great in the role and keeping me interested. I was hoping to see more of the guy from the pilot that got knocked out by Stormrider's gun. :)

I like how they tied Hydra into the episode. I'll keep watching for a while. Hopefully the other characters will find their footing as the show progresses. Still way too early to write it off.

For such a high security division, they brought "living in a van down by the river" girl Skye in awfully quickly to their high tech flying office. I'd have taken her phone and anything even remotely electronic away from hacker girl before she set foot on the plane.

Can somebody PM me what happened after the credits? Our DVR cuts off the last minute!

Was trying to withhold judgement until after the 3rd or 4th episode, since I try to give shows a bit of breathing room, but I don't know if I can take much more of Skye and the Skye/Ward forced love thing. If they just got rid of both those characters, the show would be a lot more interesting to me.

Not bad, but not great. SLJ's appearance wasn't a surprise - he'll appear in anything. The only thing that was surprising about it, was that it took two whole episodes before it happened.

Coulson isn't a cyborg/replicant or anything else. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts, they flew him back to Valhalla and dropped him in that re-gen chamber, that Odin was in, for most of the Thor movie. If it can bring you back to life, I'm sure it can plant memories, as well.

But for a super-secret top government agency, they sure are loosey-goosey on the security. "Oh, you're some chick that Phil boinked 10 years ago, and hasn't had contact with, since? Sure, c'mon aboard.". "Oh, you're her unverified security detail? You can come, too.". "Oh, you're a crazy hacker chick that we found in a van? Welcome aboard. And as a bonus, since we know you like to hack into our systems, you can absolutely keep all of your personal technology devices, and we won't even bother to go through them, to make sure they're secure.".

Apparently, it's far easier to get aboard a SHIELD plane, than a Pan Am flight. Want to get on a super-duper top secret government aircraft - right this way, please. Want to fly down to Florida to take your kids to Disney? Well, first we'll have to strip search your children, then send you through a backscatter machine, and please remove your shoes before going through the array of metal detectors. And unfortunately, you can't take your 97 year old mother with you, because her name appears on the no-flight list, as a potential terrorist.

I think Coulson knows full-well that Skye is still in touch with her Rising Tide homies. My guess is that he's monitoring everything she's doing in order to gain more information. "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" kind of thing. Frankly, I don't think she's actually the uber-hacker that she's been built up to be, but is someone the group is using as a front.
