Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

If I was Coulson I think my response to learning what was up would be WTF? What right do they have to be upset with him when he apparently doesn't even know they exist. At the end of last year he was under the assumption that he was all that was left of shield and that he apparently had no one to report to.

They seem to have a disconnect there. They paint it as he was acting against their wishes however, from what we've seen there was no way for the Coulson or the team to even know they existed. How about a big 'WTH were you all when we were busting our butts to stay alive and take on the bad guys'? Seems like they wanna sit in the peanut gallery and take pot shots without having to deal with any repercussions of their actions.

It's certainly a big bonk on the head in terms of continuity. Heck, in Winter Soldier I wanted to slap Steve across the face when he said that soldiers should always obey orders and know what they are doing at all times. Yeah, like his secret rescue mission that earned him his reputation? Nice one.

But putting it all into perspective, I am very, very thankful we haven't reached X-Men levels of horrendously bad attempts at adhering to continuity.

Maybe it is a continuity issue and maybe they'll address it shortly...we can hope I guess. But it's a rather large plot hole at the moment. They should've know that's where they were headed before the season even began - so huge plot hole for now.

Yeah, they've been in contact with other folks (like in this very episode) as if they were the "real" SHIELD, and those people accept it. Seems like if the other SHIELD has been operating as bona fide all this time, our guys would have encountered some confusion on the part of others by now.

I bet Hunter wasn't even on that submarine pod thing at all, he just launched it and then hid somewhere. He'll probably stow away on one of the planes going to attack Coulson and the others. Also, man but Fitz is going to be upset when he finds out that Mac betrayed them to.

Not really a fan of how much time they're spending on Ward, I just don't think he's that interesting anymore. Other than that it's a good episode. I especially liked Fitz calling Simmons out on how nuts she's been acting lately. Hopefully that will get her to calm down a bit.

I was wondering whether he would try to escape to warn Coulson, because he's obviously loyal to Coulson now, or if he'd stay and try to cause trouble. Also were they on a helicarrier? It was really dark and hard to see on my tv.

I'm over hearing about Ward. I was hoping they'd just move on.

Yeah that was a major WTH moment when I saw the preview last week. They obviously don't know that Coulson was given the position by Nick Fury, since they assume he's dead. I wonder if Fury is going to show up in the middle of their mini war to stop it?

I can see it happening.
Old Shield cleans up the Hydra mess while new Shield sits back to take the credit and blame the old if things went wrong.
Let's be honest, some in leadership knew that there were Hydra/Nazi scientists working for Shield in the 1950s but thought ok, fine we get the technology we'll just ignore the recent past and keep it secret.
And considering the fall out/cover up from the Battle of New York and then the event of Winter Soldier, who would welcome hybrid alien-humans into the mix.

If New Shield doesn't have a real enemy they need to create one.

"We're the real SHIELD, founded on the critical principles of transparency and accountability. That SHIELD everyone knows about? They're fake SHIELD."

I think you are looking at a fake/hydra element. We know Hydra had infiltrated the strike and other Helicarrier Insight program completely. Makes sense that this is the case with this group. They don't know about Fury being alive and they are trying hard to get Coulson's data cube. A secret organization open and in the public eye? Yeah, nothing suspicious about that...

Coulson should be working with Fury on "other" issues which you see when he is working with the holographic display. It's obvious that there is much more going on then just the issues he has been dealing with for the field agents in the office and shown on the show. Coulson is also legitimately working with the military, again confirming his agencies legitimacy.

Finally, you know the Marvel universe is working up towards the movies, so this issue is more like a speed bump in the plot line, hopefully to give Coulson more assets to work with down the line in the show. Although by the time the movies roll around, They had noted shield would not exist any longer...

Tripoli, they said SHIELD wouldn't exist anymore by the time the new round of movies rolls out? Is that as early as AOU?

The themes of the two SHIELDs would seem to play well into Civil War - tranparency VS secrecy, accountability, etc - but I feel Cap 3 is too far down the line.

Cap3 is just this time next year. This seems like a perfect timeline as they had suggested that there would only be 3 seasons of M:AoS

Writing is starting to get staid.
Throw out 3-4 story arcs and you only have to juggle them every week with the occasional shocking revelation.
Please don't turn into writing like Under the Dome or The Revolution.

Man, I love Gordon. The man's got class and a not-unhealthy level of humor for someone with his physical impairments.

Seeing Skye open up with that shock wave was beautiful. She's learning.

I have this feeling that Bobbi's gonna switch sides again, given that not one, but two NuSHIELD agents were willing to use real bullets on Skye instead of Icers. She was NOT happy about that.

Gotta give Simmons props for keeping up the absent minded scientist routine while getting everything together to knock out Bobbi.

At least we know that Mack isn't irredeemable, as he did go out of his way to make sure that Fitz didn't get caught in that blast.

Good to see Hartley again, too.

I like how Hunter is suddenly on board with everything. He's not happy with being duped, knocked out, and taken prisoner. Should make his next rendezvous with Bobbi more interesting...

Blowing up trees is a pretty cool aspect of a power, those shards are serious business.

It's nice to see that Ftiz is mostly fixed now. All it took was focusing on saving someone else and forgetting about his own issues.
